Pre-order Lightning Returns to get Cloud’s uniform and Buster Sword By Erren Van Duine on July 2, 2013 at 4:39 AM

Oft touted since her original reveal to be a female version of Cloud, Square Enix has today made that dream a reality.

The inclusion of over 80 costumes in Lightning Returns has granted Square Enix this one-of-a-kind opportunity ahead of the game’s release and thankfully, it won’t be putting a dent in your wallet. Those who pre-order the game in North America will gain access to the Cloud Strife DLC – free of charge, of course.

Lightning will be able to don Cloud Strife’s Solider 1st Class uniform, Buster Sword, and Solider Band. Not only that, but wearing Cloud’s costume will give Lightning special access to the classic victory fanfare music and pose – an oddity in the XIII universe for sure. Square Enix has put together a little trailer to show off the DLC set and give you an idea of what you may be getting yourself into when the game releases come February 11, 2014.

Those interested in pre-ordering can do so through here. In addition to Cloud’s outfit DLC, Amazon is currently offering a $10 credit with purchase.

I’m just subscribed to the feed of the site.
Also, you know you can favorite the page, or even make it reaaally simple and just type in “www.novacrystallis.com”…?

  • LightningF

Oh cool :) and, how do you do that *embarrassed face* xD

  • miss chel

Entirely different thing. If they gave Lightning Squall’s outfit or the Seed uniform it wouldn’t garner this much attention and hate, for sure. But I guess that’s one of the outfit’s reveal’s purposes, to gain huge immediate attention.

Thanks for the reply. Thats fine as well. I will just wait for the PSN updates then. Still kind of secretly holding out hope for the Dissidia costumes(I’m sad)

It might also interest you to know that I learned Europe (specifically the Nordic Edition) is getting SIX Samurai costumes, not three. Three are for pre-ordering, and three (plus Cloud’s stuff) automatically come with the Nordic Edition. With XIII-2, all of the Nordic Edition DLC eventually popped up on the US PSN.

Also, I believe I saw you comment on another site saying that Lightning was getting the Braver limit as one of her battle skills. If that was you, would you be willing to provide a source for me? Or is it because of that flip jump she does, which looks like it could potentially be an updated Braver animation?

  • ultromega

Just a thought… since Lightning is getting this Cloud outfit, how awesome would it be if you could fight against Sephiroth in the Coliseum? :)

  • Ehren Rivers

It would certainly be cool, but I dunno if they’d do it.

Oh Wow. The boiled down specifics of pre-ordering are more complex than I thought. Regarding the braver, I put 2 articles together to kind of come up with an assumption. 1 Site was saying the costume will provide special abilities with the Armor(Not sure which piece). And after seeing the video I assumed that was the Braver ability she was givin.

  • Ehren Rivers

All right, thanks for the clarification. :)

For those wondering about collectors editions, apparently there’s not going to be one.

Check the comments in that link. Kind of sad :(

Also, lots of people are raging about the costume. Must be hard being so salty about the direction of the series lol.

  • Pekola

Well it worked, now everyone’s talking about the game lol.

The Final Fantasy fanbase tends to be really crappy.

Half of the complaints aren’t even objective.

  • Ehren Rivers

Ah well, it’s not like I needed one. They usually come with Amano art cases or music discs I buy the tracks for online anyway.

And yes, it must be. But then again, some people can put a lot of effort into pointless hate and ragetears with their lack of social lives or worthwhile hobbies.

I happen to think Nomura is one of the most sensitive people regarding the clothes equality movement.

He don’t discriminate zippers and belts. The Velcro community is still often erased or fetishized, but small steps…

  • Ehren Rivers

Have to agree with you there. That’s why I often avoid comments sections and forums that aren’t here. I’ve been putting up with pointless freakouts and unbelievable complaints since VIII, and it’s a little tiresome at this point.

  • Ehren Rivers

Bahahahaha, yes indeedy. 😛 I do like Nomura’s design, generally, I was just sayin’. That particular outfit is just, well. Interesting. 😛

I’m actually a little sad they opted to use Roen’s designs for XV, and I’m hoping Nomura will surprise with a few more new outfits for Lighting.

How do you think Lightning would look in a Orgnization XIII coat?

  • ultromega

The comment in that link: “There are no plans to release a Collector’s Edition for this game.”

Hmm… I guess that makes sense. They would’ve announced a collector’s edition at the same time as the pre-order bonus. I was hoping that Square Enix was just waiting for the right time to announce it, like at the Tokyo Game Show or some other event. Oh well.

A lil’ off-topic here, but WHAT is so bad about FFVIII?!?! Seriously? I mean, I can understand some people’s dislike of FFXIII, but what don’t people like about FFVIII? I love it! I actually think the “weird” battle system is quite cool~

  • Ehren Rivers

Who knows how these people’s minds work? Battle system complaints, character issues, story misunderstandings. It’s the same story every time. And quite sad, considering that after Final Fantasy XII I’d say VIII is my favorite.

the thing that mainly annoys me about this, is how they can create Clouds Attire with perfection(i think it looks amazing) yet they fail to deliver the good of even a super slow process of a remake, SE are breaking my balls.
