Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn snags a 39/40 score in Famitsu

Nearly a month after release, Japanese magazine Famitsu has finally weighed in on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

While Famitsu isn’t exactly the most trust worthy source for scores out there – I probably wouldn’t trust it at all unless the score is below 30 – they’ve decided ARR is good enough to be almost perfect. Four different reviewers came up with 9, 10, 10, and 10 respectively for a total of 39/40. To lay some perspective on, that’s the same score Final Fantasy XIII was awarded back in 2009 and one point below the score Final Fantasy XIII-2 was given in 2011.

The review cites the beginning of the game as being fantastic and says that things get really intense as you make your way to the middle of the game. Because of that, it’s convenient to form a party with other people. Famitsu says the highlight of the game is its world view and graphics.

Not bad, all things considered. Of course, we have our own bit to say about the game – you can read our full review of Final Fantasy XIV here.
