PS4's latest Creator Interview focuses on Naoki Yoshida and Final Fantasy XIV

Final Fantasy XIV is coming to PS4 “sooner than we might think” and to reenforce that dialogue, Naoki Yoshida has taken the stage as the next developer in Sony’s on-going Conversations with Creators series. In the video, the Producer/Director speaks at length about the game, and what it means for Sony’s upcoming next generation platform.

The biggest upgrade from the already released PS3 version will be the graphics. Not only will they be close to the maximum settings on the PC version, but the amount of players rendered on screen will jump to around 200 at once. Yoshida notes that the large amount of memory capacity in the PS4 is one of his most desired features, and the system’s new Share functionality will allow for easy capture of exciting moments that players can display online with their friends. Additionally, players can use the mouse-like functions of the controller’s touch pad to point and click for easier access on screen.

As with most PS4 games, Final Fantasy XIV will indeed support remote play – that is, the ability to play the game off-screen via PS Vita. Eorzea Libra, a companion app scheduled to roll out for iOS and Android will also be available for Vita owners.

Differences between the PC, PS3 and PS4 differences will be non-existent as all three versions will be cross platform.

Aside from system memory, Yoshida appreciates that the PS4 allows for creation of higher fidelity characters and levels. He’s also a fan of the Share button and remote play features, while feeling that the hardware will test the team fully – making things both easy and difficult together.
