Rumor: Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster delayed until 2014 By Erren Van Duine on September 1, 2013 at 10:41 PM

Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster might be slipping 2014 – if Square Enix America representatives are to be believed.

Speaking with an employee at PAX Prime this weekend, a member over at NeoGAF asked about the elusive release date. Unfortunately, it seems the game won’t be making its originally promised 2013 debut unless we’re “really lucky.” According to the rep, the game will likely launch by February instead.

While not yet official in any specific capacity, a delay wouldn’t be surprising given we’ve yet to see any finalized date. Despite a constant stream of media and pre-order bonuses having been announced, Square Enix has remained coy on further release details – especially with it comes to the PS Vita version. If there truly is a delay, hopefully they’ll address the situation by Tokyo Game Show in a couple weeks.

    Not surprised yet disappointed

Will wait until TGS before getting upset over something like this.

I dont really mind, I mean, yes it might be delayed. But eventually it will be here. I always got some other things to keep occupied.

  • Wassim Mokhtar

honestly, this will give them time to fix the small things that really makes the game so much better, like Tidus’s Face, the lip syncing, the emotional express on the characters faces etc. I feel like i wont mind wait since other major games like Rayman Legends, GTA 5 and Arkham Origins is coming out. Nonetheless, im still glad i preordered this game and hope it shines better than I and other fans have thought originally.

This is awful if true…this was announced in sept 2011, after which we had to endure 1.5 years to even hear of it…It wasn’t until feb 2013 in that vita event that they mentioned FFXHD…Lo and Behold all we got was this measely trailer :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yycBXxePMqo..

This is ,frankly, infuriating. It still essentially the same game from over a decade ago. Character model updates do not warrant over two years of development. This is coming close to the time it took to make the game from scratch.

I think we have all waited long enough for this one.Clearly, SE management requires reform at this point.

  • Wassim Mokhtar

Im still feeling shit that its still being delayed though! GIVE US THE CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE SPIRA ONCE MORE SE!

  • Randy Marsh

Later release date, means better results. So I don’t mind. Besides I got XIV to keep me going for the next five months.

  • Nokuto

I’m not mad. If anything, I’m glad because it will mean more time will go into making the game better. In the meantime, I have the original FFX to satisfy all of my FFX needs.

  • Sapientia

Dear lord. Let the rage begin.

  • Sapientia

Better late than never. We’ve all probably waited for something for what seemed like a billion years. I’d rather have something thorough and isn’t half-assed than something that’s, well…sloppy and no-assed. 😡

  • Mugen

Yup, I’m not surprised as well…given SE’s track record of long ass development times

  • Panos Dek

I think it was almost certain this would happen… “Sometime in 2013” and it’s already September… At least this means that the game will be even more improved… The only “problem” at least for me is the fact that if it’s released in February we will have to get both LR and X-X2 in the same month… Starting saving money from now! xD

  • Lowe De Leon

Certainly not surprising…although TGS is the only way to answer this. I am hoping that this isn’t true but it’s too late to promote it if it gets released by October-November. That February though seems kind of iffy as well since I’ve never really seen (correct me if I am right) Square Enix releasing two Final Fantasy games in a month. This will split sales.

  • Somber

    sigh….after LRXIII, this….well….sad :/

  • Anime10121

Cant say I’m surprised, though I am disappointed 🙁

What is it about Square lately not being able to keep their release dates in check!? First LR, then Drakegard 3, and now FFXHD? They need to stop announcing release years if they cant even get those right 🙁

  • Mihel

    Drakengard 3 too.

  • Anime10121

Thx I knew there was more!

  • I hope it proves untrue, but if they need more time to improve the game, I’m fine with the delay. Still think the game won’t be released in february, since LRFFXIII is going to be released in the exact same month. Two FF in the same month? It sounds unlikely to happen.

  • NikkiCola

Welp, this is not surprising. It’s annoying simply because they’ve kept hammering in the idea of it being done in 2013. They keep writing checks their asses can’t cash.
I am going to remain hopeful buuuuuut… mreh. D:

  • I guess i’m not surprised either. I guess it was something expected, since the year it’s getting over and they still didn’t give us a release date yet, let’s see what they say at the TGS… but as long as I’ll have it, it’s okay 🙂

  • Ryuukishi

Surely it will be out before February. I can’t see them releasing this and LR13 so close together.
