Square Enix trademarks Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call By Erren Van Duine on September 2, 2013 at 1:35 AM

Square Enix has filed a new trademark that may suggest another edition of the game is on the way.

Discovered online at the United States trademark office, the filing is definitely for a video game of some sort – citing as such in the actual description of the thing.

Having been over a year since the original 3DS title launched in all territories, it’s probably about time for that sequel now isn’t it?

Vita port s’il vous plait :3

Oh, Balthier’s so cute in chibi form~~ x3

The Vita is touch-screen, right? It would make sense though how much Square Enix is willing to spend on a Vita version is beyond my knowledge.

I request that there be no necessarily abundant in-game purchases for the inevitable iOS Version. Ah, well, purchasing this apparent sequel is unlikely for me, anyway.

  • Shereen Abbas

    I want a Kingdom Hearts Theatrrythm….

  • Anime10121

    So much THIS***

I could die happy if they release an upgraded version of the game on PSVita! Let me dream…

    omg lil baby balthier

Yeah, the iOS in-game purchases are ridiculous, which is why I only bought a few songs and a few characters. Anyway, I’m looking forward to this possible sequel.

You have to wonder though… what songs could they possibly include in the sequel? The existing game features songs from FFI – FFXIII-2. Maybe this is just an update?

  • Ehren Rivers

I would be really happy if they released a version on the 3DS that contained even more songs. I am getting a 3DS for my birthday this month, and I’ve decided to wait on getting Theatrythm (Which I’ve played briefly) to see what this turns out to be.

I only have the iOS version, which I assume doesn’t compare to the real game, but I still love it. Any chance to listen to good music AND play a video game is fun in my book. The in-game purchases for the iOS version are crazy though. There are no unlockable tracks or characters, you have to pay for everything.

  • Ehren Rivers

Huh, that’s annoying. :/ The 3DS version was really fun for me, but I didn’t get too far because I only go to borrow it for a day and I was a bit of a perfectionist. It looks like there’s one character per title starting out, and that’s all I’d gotten.

  • Shereen Abbas

Haha, Yay, someone agrees with me, XD. Anime10121, we would rock at that, ^_^

  • Ehren Rivers

I would certainly like it if Kingdom Hearts music, characters, etc. were to appear in a version of the game. I wouldn’t want it to be an entirely separate game though. My poor wallet. D:

  • Shereen Abbas

Haha, I know! But some songs would be cool. Or maybe as add-on content…

  • Ehren Rivers

Yessss, yes they would. I would love to play “The Other Promise” (the version of Roxas’ theme from the Final Mix+ fight), or “Fate of the Unknown”. OOH! Or “Rowdy Rumble”, that’d be cute. 😛

  • Shereen Abbas

Haha, I’d love the “13th struggle”, or “Sherzo di Notti” and ofcourse “Dearly Beloved”. Also, please give us “Passion” (After the battle!!!!) XD

A new Theatrhythm game sounds fun. I hope there will be more songs per Final Fantasy game this time.

Considering that there were two Dissidia action RPGs and the ‘conclusiveness’ of a name like Curtain Call, I wonder if this’ll be the last Theatrhythm. What genre do you think the Dissidia series will head to next, if this is the case?

  • Guest

An update seems most likely. Something similar to For the Sequel?

  • karasuKumo

Since Theatrhythm is based around Dissidia’s lore could it be possible for Dissidia to get another game in the future? I believe I remember them saying that they weren’t planning on doing another but I’m still hopeful.

  • ImminentBread

There might be something in the works. A while back, a fansite interviewed Nomura about FFXV and asked about Noctis appearing in Dissidia. He replied that he wasn’t greatly involved in the “Dissidia project”, but he might think about it “if director Takahashi [wanted] to include Noctis in the next Dissidia game”.

This “Dissidia project” could have just been Curtain Call, but the first Theatrhythm was directed by Masanobu Suzui, and Takahashi was the director of Duodecim, so I have my hopes.
