Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn patch 2.1 "A Realm Awoken" details and more!

A flood of new and exciting information was revealed to viewers of the Letter from the Producer LIVE part X today in regards to the upcoming patch 2.1. As usual, Director, Producer Naoki Yoshida and Toshio Murouchi sat side by side to reveal, discuss and answer questions from the players.

Of the many things announced, the highlight of the LIVE letter was the walkthrough of Crystal Tower, the upcoming 24-man raid set to be released in 2.1; Crystal Tower is based upon it’s Final Fantasy III equivalent and features a large host of bosses found in the title, remade for XIV, as well as a remastered and remixed version of “Into the Crystal Cave” and the iconic Boss Theme found in the game.

Both tracks can be heard in the 2.1 BGM Preview featured during the test stream yesterday (1:49 -> 8:00):

The development team highlighted the contents of Patch 2.1 that include:

  • Copperbell Mines Hard Mode Dungeon
  • Haukke Manor Hard Mode Dungeon
  • Pharos Sirius Dungeon
  • The Crystal Tower
  • Good King Moggle Mog Primal
  • Ifrit Extreme Mode
  • Garuda Extreme Mode
  • Titan Extreme Mode

  • There is plenty of content coming in 2.1 to wet the appetite of any seasoned adventurer, but Yoshida didn’t stop there! The pair also clarified that 2.2 would include the much sort after Vanity System, as well as the primal Leviathan, with Ramuh and Shiva making an appearance in patch 2.3. While a long way off, it’s obvious that the development team is working hard to feed content into the game and at a faster rate, it was mentioned that 2.1 was delayed by four weeks due to launch issues and that they aim to be back on track shortly.

As well as the above, a new Eorzea Collection trailer was also shown here:

And a plethora of information on specific details such as job changes was translated by the community team and can be found in the Q&A Here.

Finally before signing off for a well deserved sleep, the pair unveiled the date for Patch 2.1, December 17th, 2013; mark it in the calendars for it’s sure to be a patch filled to the brim with exciting content! Yoshida also clarified the date of the next LIVE Letter as December 14th, where they would be going over the remainder of the content expected in 2.1.
