Final Fantasy XIV heads to PlayStation 4 on April 14th

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will see its next generation launch on PlayStation 4 on April 14th, Square Enix have confirmed today. Set to launch less than two months after beta begins (set for February 22nd), the game will launch with both a standard version and collector’s edition – complete with new artwork by Akihiko Yoshida.

The PS4 collector’s edition will come with all of the contents found in the PC and PS3 versions as well as a Fat Chocobo mount and a wind-up moogle minion. Those who purchases the CE back at the original launch will also be able to obtain those items. Pre-orders will begin on January 27th with more information expected to be forthcoming.

Note that players who already purchases the game on PS3 will be entitled to a free upgrade of the PS4 version – the catch is, they will forfeit any right to use the game on PS3 from there on out.
