Download and play the Final Fantasy XIV PS4 beta now

The PS4 beta version of Final Fantasy XIV is now live and anyone with the console keen on playing can do so as of this posting. Available for free directly through the PlayStation Store, the beta client will give players a little taste of the game’s content, through level 20 of their desired class. Unlike its PS3 brother, the PS4 version features upgraded 1080p graphics, improved framerate up to 60fps, remote play through the PS Vita, Share support through the system’s social features and the ability to use the DualShock 4’s touchpad.

The beta phase will take place through the following schedule (subject to change):

  • Phase 1: February 22nd to March 3rd.
  • Phase 2: April 4th to April 7th.
  • The beta will be accessible for everyone with a PS4, and directly downloadable from PlayStation Store.
  • There will be a character wipe after Phase 1.
  • Players who made their character in beta phase two will be able to bring this data to the retail version.
  • PS3 and PC players of FFXIV will be able to transfer character data to the PS4 (please note that this is only necessary for the beta — in the retail version, all players will play on the same servers).

Players who own the PlayStation 3 version of FFXIV: A Realm Reborn will be able to transfer their accounts to the PlayStation 4 for free starting April 11th in preparation for launch on April 14th. Once transferred, PlayStation 4 players will no longer be able to access the PlayStation 3 version. Additional account transfer details will be announced at a later date.

The beta client can be downloaded directly through the PlayStation Network store through a PS4, or on the web for both North American and European fans respectively. The final game will launch worldwide on April 14th.
