OH MY BHUNIVELZE this trailer is beast though! THAT ENDING! That rage! No emotions makes her really emotional , lawl

  • γ‚γ‹γ‚Šγ‚“ (Akarin)

Just got the game 4 hours ago and after 3 hours of playing it seems as if the presentation skills of Square Enix has improved, I am certainly not as lost as when I first played ffxiii. The battle system is magnificent, and as an action gamer first time normal seems great! I cant wait to play some more, but of course studying demands my attention now πŸ™

  • NoctX85

Yes finally her Time is over…..not only the 13 day`s no her face will disapear from every …….. news as well. And we can look forward to FFXV. And yes i HATE this fucking game and the whole trilogy. And yes i treid to actually play this game and it is boring as hell……….ADIOS Claire farron

  • Alleo

still no Lightning in sight T_T hopefully it will still arrive today. A friend of mine got it yesterday I so envy her. ^^;; And yes great trailer. =)

  • Shami

Mine is not even shipped YET
    I ordered from Zavvi.com

  • Jean Paiva

    Good trailer.

  • Bangarang

Really enjoying this game right now. Also, just got the collector’s strat guide. It came with 2 codes (ps3/360) for the “Art of War” garb. I only needed the ps3 one so if anyone wants the 360 version, here it is: GVPQK-GYWFV-RP3W9-GR96K-9HGFZ. Enjoy πŸ™‚

  • raruna

That was a pretty cool looking trailer. I just hope that the actual game has writing that is as interesting as the trailer makes it seem.

  • NoctX85

trust me it`s not interesting at all, the game has no soul….

  • DarmusXIII

This is coming from a die hard xiii and xiii-2 fan lol and truthfully they kinda ruined the story @ xiii-2 this game is a fairly bad attempt at fixing those errors but hey they tried right lol anyway I feel if they focused more on the main story it could have been decent but even so script is just so screwy lol funny @ moments, down right awkward, and at other moments it’s topics that have no reason to even be in the game but overall I’m loving the game n give a 8/10 hopefully u enjoy it as well oh n combat is the best atb based combat I’ve ever played

  • DarmusXIII

At least u can play lol my ps3’s blu ray drive gave out on me day after NA release xD atleast I played a good amount tho haha n enjoy the game πŸ™‚

  • Somber

    Excellent trailer.

  • Somber

Are you blind or something? The game beautifully illustrates a world in despair. Almost every sidequests is full with sadness, sorrow and death. There’s nothing sadder than those concepts.

  • Nice trailer. I love those slow-motion action sequences in the beginning. It makes me wish that the actual game included a slow-motion feature as XIII-2 did.

  • XYFEIR

I love the game so far, the story isn’t THAT bad. I love all of the sassy dialogue between everyone xD I find it to be a bit more comprehensible than XIII-2 but that’s because I don’t like stories that involve traveling through time too much. It’s certainly enjoyable enough. :3

  • Nokuto

Same here. I preordered from Target because I wanted the cool steelbook and it has been 3 days and it hasn’t shipped yet.

I think I’m about to go crazy.

  • Sothe Zephyr

Awwww THAT bad implies it isnt GOOD……..BUT IL LOVE IT! If my CE ever freaking arrives

  • World_is_Square

Saw the post man bring my CE today and couldn’t contain myself!Had to go straight away to open the door… well worth it, am enjoying every minute of it πŸ™‚ !

  • XYFEIR

I meant that it’s not as bad asdpeople are making it out to be. I like the story personally. I’m finding it to be interesting. c:

  • Sothe Zephyr

SO! According to Square Enix’s website, the order time was 5-10 business days for me. But now according to Digital River, it is 4 weeks. NO WHERE did it say 4 weeks for delivery! Im pretty pissed! So my Collector’s Edition isnt coming any time soon. THANKS SQUARE ENIX! IM TOTALLY ORDERING FROM YOU AGAIN! No im being facetious, im never ordering from you again. Hiding shit from me. No thanks.

  • Alleo

I ordered it from amazon and thankfully it still arrived yesterday afternoon =)
Hope that you two will get it soon. ^^

Really loving it so far =)

  • Alleo

Thats bad O_O do you have another preorder from Digital River? Some say that they ordered other games and they will only deliver them together so they have to wait till the latest game comes out <_< Hopefully it wont take the four weeks to arrive.

  • Sothe Zephyr

Nope only the Collector’s Edition >:l This is so ridiculous! But the lady assured me that it wasn’t 5-10 business days despite me looking at SE order page and reading it to her….yelling it at her…a billion times……”oh no no it take 4 week 6 maximum to come” LIKE I KNOW YOU’VE TOLD ME! IM TELLING YOU THAT YOUR COMPANY ARE LIARS! So now im going out today and buying a copy. Im not waiting haha πŸ˜‰

  • Nokuto

I think what happened is that the steelbook edition got sold out at Target. If it doesn’t arrive before the 19th, I’m gonna have to cancel it and forfeit the Cloud DLC. But I don’t wanna cancel it!

  • SykraS

I’m going to say something ironic now, i love troy baker and ali hillis but the english voice over is so shit that i could not get passed luxerion so i waited 1 day(in real time not in game lol) for the japanese voice over pack to release then i started over again and it was music to my hears. enjoying this game a lot^^. also i hope square enix does this for future FF games. i would love to play FFXV with japanese dub.

  • Tinye

I personally am not picky about English dub, I don’t think it’s that bad although I do know I don’t have a great ear for those things. With that said, after I beat the game I’m going to play New game+ with the Japanese voice over and hear the beauty of the language. πŸ™‚

  • Tinye

I’m really sorry to hear that. I’ve heard poor things about digital rivers, although my CE arrived on launch day which I am grateful for, it always sucks looking forward to something and not getting it when you’re expecting it. I wonder if it’s feasible to buy the game and then return the unopened one in the CE box?

  • Tinye

Same reaction from myself. Loving every moment of it. It’s a great challenge too and it’s rare for me to feel that way about an RPG.

  • Tinye

I just want to say that the Battle System is EPIC! I love the cross between ARPG and traditional RPG. Super fun and Lightning is a bad ass

  • Tinye

    What’s studying? >.>

  • Guest

The game doesn’t have a focused story, which I think is the reason it’s putting a lot of people off. It’s being treated as a multitude of epilogues fit together. While it has some focus towards all the important characters of the XIII franchise, the game’s overarching theme seems to be humanity’s tale, and so spends most of its time on side-quests and telling you stories about all these different people.

So far I’m liking how this is going, but I can understand why people might hate it. Not entirely sure myself why main quests are considered “main” lol. They’re pretty much just small blotches on a painting, albeit somewhat more involving.

People who are about to play this game should have the right mindset. Pay attention to the story for the sake of seeing how everyone manages to find some hope in a dying world. If you see them as the usual side-quests, then you won’t have much story to look forward to and will be sorely disappointed. Side-quests are actually pretty good, and are only less impressive than Skyrim’s from my own experience.

  • Sothe Zephyr

Thats what i was thinking haha xD But i think ima just return the one i bought…or trade it in at least. I dont wana get caught trying scam ebgames haha

  • I honestly think that because we are given so much freedom as to which areas to complete and in whichever order we choose, the story HAD to be made up of separate/isolated encounters that would still make sense. FFXIII had the most involved and eventful storyline, but it was also the most linear game of the trilogy. You had no choice but to go from point A to B to C to D. In LR, you could start at point D, jump to A, go to C, finish with B, and the story would be the same regardless of which order you chose on your play through. If the characters’ stories were more connected, how would that work if it was up to the player whether or not they encountered a major character like Snow at the beginning of their quest or at the very end of their quest?

Anyway, that’s my theory on why LR’s story is structured the way it is.

In a perfect world, the story would change depending on the choices we make in the game. We do get + versions of bosses, so that is in effect somewhat, but ideally, we would see different story progressions, maybe a different plot twist or 2, maybe even get different characters to join our party depending on the progression in our play through.

  • Tinye

It wouldn’t be scamming, you’re returning the same game unopened but different serial #? or whatever. You should call and ask them, seriously. It’s probably an option, if not, I bet walmart would do something like that.

  • LGFFan

i lost Motivation ever since even loading up the game…
i looked forward to it until my pre-order did not come with the promised Cloud Costume πŸ™ it came with nothing but the instruction manual and membership code..

  • Alleo

I agree with you two. XIIIΒ΄s linearity gave them the chance to focus completely on the story and only on Gran Pulse could you forget about it a little and take your time with the side quests. It may have been quite linear (never got much problem with that) but they could use that to tell their story.

XIII-2 was already a little different to that since you could choose where you want to go but it was still not that much open because some time gates only opened after some events. This gave them the chance to tell the story how they wanted to but you still could be quite distracted from the main story.

Now Lightning returns is much more world driven. It really can be compared to games like Skyrim in that department. ItΒ΄s impossible to tell the story like they did in XIII because everyone could choose their own way to solve the quests. For me this makes it really feel like you are part of the world. You can go around and help the people, you get to know their stories and their pain. In XIII it may feel more like reading a book. You can still feel like your part of the world but you canΒ΄t really decide much yourself.

In Lightning returns you can decide if you want to really help that person and who you help first. There a some other games like Dragon age that makes you feel a little more as if you are part of the world (your decision through the game can give you slightly different endings and you can loose a whole village if you decide to do something else). In the end it will depend which storytelling you like more.

I do get the feeling that they may have included the time management to still be able to focus their story a little bit and without the time, you may also not feel that the world is ending.

  • Sothe Zephyr

True true haha….im definitely going to check it out….but the copy i have had the cloud dlc inside….for some reason o.o walmart bypass’ pre order restriction apparently haha

  • Sothe Zephyr

It was a little dull to begin with. Being in luxerion and having little abilities and garbs with LOTS to do and choose from it was really….hard to really enjoy yourself. But after getting used to the game and deciding on a fixed line of what your going to do and get into the groove of things THE GAME IS AWESOME! So much better than 13-2 haha! I am enjoying the wildlands SO much and the diversity needed to take down different enemies efficiently! Beautiful game, really!

  • γ‚γ‹γ‚Šγ‚“ (Akarin)

Studying Honours in actuarial science, so playing LR is an excellent reward for 8-14 hours of studying a day.

  • Shami

I just simply out of spite cancelled my order from Zavvi.com
Even though my guide book WAS IRONICALLY shipped two days before 14.february. I was about to go nuts.
Zavvi was out of stock and they e-mailed me that they will TRY to dispatch it some time around this week.
So I’ll play LR mid-March in worst case scenario xD

  • Ehren Rivers

If you bought the game from the Square Enix Store, they would have emailed it to you.

If you purchased from a shop like Gamestop, they generally give you an extra receipt at the time of pickup with the code on it.

If you bought this game somewhere else online, check your email/junkmail/purchasing account (in that order), and if it’s not in any of those places contact customer service.

  • LGFFan

Yeah i did πŸ™‚ i got 3 Responses in the past 2hours lol.
they are sorry and will get back to me, i gave them plenty of proof, also not to mention it may have been stock issue or something, 2 friends of mine ordered from Amazon.co.uk and also did not receive any kinda codes for costumes for pre-ordering lol :/

  • Nokuto

I called someone at Target and they said that they were out of stock too. They informed me that the steelbook will be back in stock this week (or whenever they get the next shipment) and will be shipped as soon as possible. So I should be playing it sometime this week.

  • Shami

Well as it turned out i couldn’t cancel my order on time.
I thought i did but Zavvi.com managed to ship it today
Well it was for the best i guess, the game will be mine
    first week of March πŸ™‚

  • Guest

youre in lux for like 15 minutes LoL

  • Sothe Zephyr

You realize i was there for like…2 days LOL πŸ˜‰ Don’t try and be sarcastic with me sir. I was overwhelmed at first, not a huge deal? And you aren’t in Lux for 15 mins LoL, you’re there for a while…..if you wana do the story there…..genius haha

  • γ‚γ‹γ‚Šγ‚“ (Akarin)

Does anyone here know which monster in the wildlands gives off “curse” (ability) as a drop if you defeat it? Taking on Cauis, almost end of 3rd Day first time normal mode. I need curse because combined with any spells such as firaga or thundaga it will send him into the air allowing me to damage him without being beaten up myself.

  • Nick Greeley

I agree. The English dub in this game (in terms of both dialogue AND delivery) is awful. Most of it sounds so out of place and awkward. I don’t know if it was that terribly written to begin with, or if it just a poor localization (like most of the past FF titles), but damn, it’s bad lol.

That being said, I loved the import of this game, and of course I enjoy it even more with English text ^_^

  • Ehren Rivers

You can most easily obtain Curse from Skeletons in the Dead Dunes, although they can also be dropped by Snow’s Personal Guard in Yusnaan.

  • γ‚γ‹γ‚Šγ‚“ (Akarin)

10000 thank you’s Ehren! I don’t have any strategy guides nor do I want any, but knowing about one or two small things makes a difference :). Are you still enjoying LR? It is a shame the frame rate drops so much, it is slightly bothersome.

  • I’ve never had a problem with the frame rate, so I’m curious… what system are you playing on? Did you do the full install? Does anyone know if the full install helps with the frame rate issues?

I’m on a PS3 and I did the full install and I haven’t seen any frame rate issues at all.

  • Ehren Rivers

I am still enjoying it, yes. Soon enough I’ll start writing up what I think about the game.

  • Storm

man, im loving the quests of this game, specially Olga, Louise and Prikket quests.

  • γ‚γ‹γ‚Šγ‚“ (Akarin)

I am playing on xbox 360 with full install. Occasionally and specific to certain areas you can see a slight stuttering of the image and this happens especially when moving the camera around more open areas, although in Luxerion this happens often. So instead of getting a seamless camera rotation like in a movie, you get slight stuttering. Happens sometimes when moving lightning around. It fails to keep a good 30 frames per second. Although like I said it is slight*. I know its not my console otherwise my COD ghosts with 9 players on field shooting each other would “lag” (offline play) since It arguably requires more attention from the CPU in calculations. But I still love the game πŸ™‚

  • γ‚γ‹γ‚Šγ‚“ (Akarin)

Looking forward to your review, whatever the eventual score πŸ™‚

  • Interesting. I personally haven’t noticed it. There was some slight stuttering if there are several smaller enemies on screen and I unleash one of the stronger thunder attacks, but nothing major that affected gameplay. πŸ™‚

  • Taking on Caius that early in the game? You’re brave.

  • γ‚γ‹γ‚Šγ‚“ (Akarin)

I can get his health down to 80000 but then I run out of health and I am punished by an hour if I escape. So I need curse to stop his attacks.

  • Anime10121

Be prepared for the ending, as its kinda “out there” but it resolves things well enough πŸ™‚ I enjoyed it (dont know if I have enough time to plat it like the other two though… redoing all those side quests is kinda ugh). I just finished it this morning, and while I still think XIII-2’s the best in the XIII series, I found this game to be a solid middle between XIII and XIII-2 πŸ™‚

  • LGFFan

so, i complete it now on Normal mode on new game plus.
i complete all side quests and i’m now on my mission to farming up all items needed so i can complete all Canvas of Prayers someday on a play through, i’ll slaughter some Last Ones i think πŸ™‚
the game really was Dull to me at first to be honest..i started to feel let down and felt it was another 13-2, but i can be happy with knowing i can be satisfied with the entire game on the overall outcome and plus unlocking the feature to now be able to upgrade weapons and shields too was such a bonus of extra fun not to mention the doors to hard mode have opened for me, i can see myself grind festing on this for weeks perhaps months from here on. all i have to say is if you are close to giving up on it halfway don’t bother, as you progress further through then all important things will unravel and you’ll be Satisfied too.

  • FlamingLechon

this may be a stupid question but after you found the children of etro’s place in Luxerion , can you visit any island in the game and do their main quest?

  • Ehren Rivers

Yes. Once you’ve either killed the Chilren of Etro or tailed them to the phone booth and gate on the edge of town, Hope mentions that the monorail is up and running.
