Final Fantasy VII will be available on PS4 as a digital download, priced at $15.99 By Erren Van Duine on December 11, 2014 at 9:19 AM

Square Enix created quite a stir over the weekend when Final Fantasy series producer Shinji Hashimoto got on stage during the PlayStation Experience to announce that Final Fantasy VII would be making its way to PS4.

Instead of the oft requested HD remake, however, fans will be treated to yet another port of the game set to arrive on Sony’s newest console in Spring of next year. Today, Square Enix has clarified the game will come delivered as a digital download and will cost $15.99 at launch – a higher price than its PS1 classic brethren. As announced previously, this version of the game is a port of the PC code which means it’ll likely include Trophies aped from its existing Steam achievements, PS Share functionality and Remote Play. The official Japanese website has updated with a teaser here.

Like I said before: if it’s no remake, than it’s not worth my money.

10 dollars to expensive. should be 4.99. I would only pay that much if they literally said it would go towards the remake.

  • I love the game but … still the psn ps3 one…

That is an interesting idea. As dirty as a move as it might be, you can bet Square would have the money to at least start the remake of VII (or another title that deserves a proper remake) like *that*. You get, in its own right, a classic game and in 8-16 years you get the remake. A long-term investment, if you will.

If only they would based this PS4 version from the PC version with MODS!
I mean, they don’t have to create the assets themselves, they’re
available for everyone on Internet, they could make the best version
possible with the available mods and then port it to PS4, can’t be that
hard if some mere fans can do it.

For FF7 trophies i might buy this again. yeah.

This is not their bug announcement for december, right? They said they are preparing it for some time now and it can lead to big things. It’s not this, right?

What a waste, I already own my PSX version, my PC version, and even the PSN version. There is NO reason whatever to get this. Stop wasting our time and do a proper remake.

Why would anyone get this? This is the exact same as what you released on steam. And the steam is 4 dollars cheaper. What the fuck.

I’m actually pretty excited about this! The PC version is the one I played back in grade school, so it’s the one I’m most familiar with.
Also, the inclusion of trophies are a HUGE deal for me. The idea of “platinum”ing FFVII is, while totally pointless, something I’m very excited about.

they still could have added certain mods to enhance the graphics, UI, etc.

  • Patrick

Agreed. That would have been very cool. Alas! Still excited for what is being offered.
