Final Fantasy XV's demo still doesn't have a date, but the goal is to release it close to Type-0 HD

Square Enix has been pretty quiet on the subject of Final Fantasy XV’s demo and its release date. With a little less than two months until the release of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD – the game the demo comes so neatly packed and promoted with – we have to wonder just when exactly they’ll be spilling the beans.

The truth, it seems, is that it may not be as far away we we thought.

Speaking with director Hajime Tabata, Kotaku had the chance to press a bit about when the demo would actually become playable. “In terms of when consumers will be able to play the demo, it hasn’t been officially announced but we’ve mentioned in Japan that we’re working very hard towards making it available around the timing of when Type-0 HD releases,” said Tabata.

The main caveat to this of course is the development team is working really hard to get the demo out close to Type-0’s launch, however, factors beyond their control may hinder that sort of commitment.

“Just to give you additional insight to that, the volume is exceeding a little bit more than what we had originally expected—it’s a little bit more than what we were originally planning,” Tabata further explained. “So in that sense we needed a little more time to implement that, and we’re working towards really trying to meet that goal right now.” That isn’t to say the demo will be out months down the line, no. The development team understands fully that fans have been waiting a long time so that was one of the main reasons behind creating the demo to begin with.
