Square Enix CEO teases big home console JRPG surprise

Square Enix is teasing a “considerable amount of high-end games” in the coming fiscal year which include a JPRG surprised aimed at home game machines.

In an interview with Nikkei Trendy, CEO Yosuke Matsuda outlined the company’s initiatives for the upcoming year. “For fiscal 2015, I think we have a considerable amount of high-end games both inside and outside the country. Starting with Final Fantasy XV, we’ll be putting out news for Japanese RPGs.”

Matsuda also mentioned there may be a little surprise, with it being something related to a JRPG meant for home consoles alongside Square Enix’s other Japanese and Western projects.

“With respect to HD titles for 2015, our Japanese and Western studios are both bolstering their lineups considerably, so it’d be wise to keep an eye on them,” Matsuda said.

With the recent release of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD and the Final Fantasy XV demo, along with Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD for PS4 in the first half of the year, we can only imagine what sort of surprises Square Enix has set for E3 and beyond.
