Square Enix has released the first direct feed screenshots today for Dragon Quest XI, currently in development for both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS.

While the PS4 version is powered by Epic’s Unreal Engine 4, the 3DS version in development simultaneously features both 3D and 2D visuals and more “deformed” character style. The story of Dragon Quest XI will be the same across both versions, however, each will play to the advantages of their respective hardwares. The PS4 version in particular will feature a vast world and highly-detailed graphics which can be seen in our gallery below.
