Susan Calloway reveals Artist Cut of Final Fantasy XIV's Answers

Susan Calloway – the voice behind both Answers and Dragonsong from Final Fantasy XIV – started teasing something to do with the game last week. Taking to Twitter, fans were teased with an image featuring the words: To all of my children – her first line in Answers.

Susan’s second clue was simply a date and a promise that we’d see the big reveal on Monday. That day is today and Susan has revealed March 4th as the release date for her own “Artist Cut” of Answers.

As the original main theme of Final Fantasy XIV, Answers was composed by Nobuo Uematsu and written by Yaeko Sato and localization lead Michael-Christopher Koji Fox. Uematsu named Susan Calloway as his first and only choice to sing one of Final Fantasy‘s most powerful themes.

For those unfamiliar with Answers and FFXIV, it’s a song that’s been with the game since its beginnings. Upon shifting over to A Realm Reborn, Answers represented the game’s rebirth as it took center stage during the new cinematic opening and closing of version 1.x.

Answers was also a prominent motif in the Binding Coil of Bahamut – the first high-end raid introduced to the game. Many of the dungeon’s background themes are variations of Uematsu’s theme with the full version playing along as players battle the final boss, Bahamut Prime.
