New Static Arts Bust sculpture line starts with Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII By André Mackowiak on April 29, 2016 at 5:41 PM

After several teasers Square Enix now introduced a new product line, presenting busts by famous Final Fantasy characters. The company showed the first finished sculpture with Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII.

In contrast to the Play Arts line, the new Static Arts Busts do not have any joints, but a fixed pose. The designers concentrated on the facial expression, the skin, texture and details on the clothing or accessories. The company wants to make the original concept designs come to life.

The Lightning Final Fantasy Static Arts Bust measures W 3.14” x D 3.14″ x H 6.69” (or 17mm x 80mm x 80mm) and is made of PVC.

The sculpture costs $59.99/45,99€ and will be released in October 2016. You can preorder it at the official Square Enix Store right now.

Dear Play Arts Kai, please use better plastics and learn to sculpt better hair. Thanks.

  • Martian Wong

I totally agree with you . Their hair is the main reason that I did not purchase their figures.

  • Yuntu

    This isn`t Play Arts.

  • James Stine

Fine, Dear Static Arts Kai… It’s the same company either way. The difference is the range, the Play Arts is implying the figma style figures which can be “played” with, or have action and movement to the joints where as this “static” arts is more in line with scale figures.

    Either way, it’s still shit.

  • Yuntu

Well it`s selling like hotcakes, so why should they change stuff? Not saying you are completly wrong.

  • James Stine

Are you sure about that…? Do you know their sales numbers? Yes, it sells, but it’s not worth the prices by far. People will buy these things for many reasons, but I own over $4,000 of figures and can tell you first hand that the sculpting work done by whoever works on the Play Arts/Static Arts figures is sub par for what it could be, and the plastics used leaves much to be desired.

They certainly aren’t Good Smile or Phat Company, they could easily skyrocket sales if they had better quality figures.

  • This looks pretty great. Though I liked Lightning’s goddess armor better.

  • Lockhart

yup the first thing that i noticed was the hair. terrible

  • Yuntu

Of course they would sell more if they had higher quality, but thing is FF fans buy everything. There a reason the 270$ CE got sold out in minutes, I`m sure similiar stuff happens to those figures or else they would change shit up and not produce more and more. I`m only sure of one thing regarding SE: If it doesn`t sell good enough they usually don`t bother with it anymore or change things up.

ARGH!!! I’m tired about FFXIII!! It’s seems that this is the only game of Square Enix!!

  • Victor Medeiros Coelho

So its confirmed its a whole new line and not a single product? Because if this is a whole line i’ll be extremely happy! Cant wait to purchase cloud, squall, zidane, terra, tidus… Would be awesome

  • It was announced as a new product line in official PR material
