A chat with the motion capture cast of Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV By André Mackowiak on August 24, 2016 at 5:04 PM

Thanks to Square Enix, Sony Pictures and PlayStation Access we had the great opportunity to meet and interview the motion capture cast of Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV during its UK premier in London yesterday.

What was it like working on the project? What does Final Fantasy mean to the actors and what makes Kingsglaive a Final Fantasy movie? Were there some funny moments during the shootings? Find the answers in our nearly 30 minute long in-depth interview with the cast.

Also look forward to our review of the movie and more giveaways in the coming weeks.

Just saw the movie. Beautiful to say the least but I blame them for the low scores by saying that both fans and non-fans will be able to like the movie. This movie was clearly for FF fans only. That aside, I hope it turns a profit so they’ll make more movies in the future.

    Yet, the leads aren’t there..

  • The problem is it wasn’t showcased in many places and only some select theaters. CA and TX had like 7- 8 theater listings for both while the other places had like 2 or 3. I would have preferred for the movie to be showing multiple places considering Sony was there to help. No body wants to travel far and try to purchase a ticket for a movie that will be streamed next week so long as that is still the plan.

On my second viewing I went with a group of 12 people, only two of whom had ever played any ff games before. All of them came out loving the movie and wanting to play the game. So I think their claim was accurate. The claim that was inaccurate I feel is that it can stand alone as just a movie without ever seeing anything else. Because while they all loved it they had a lot of questions about Luna (why doesn’t she fear death), Noctis, The source of their powers (though kinda answered in the movie), the ring, and pretty much everything you expect to be answered in the game. So I guess just depends on the type of viewer.

That’s the reason we can’t believe in the critics, we have to see for ourselves and then judge if we like it or not. I still haven’t see this movie yet, but I don’t believe in IGN for example.. They gave a 6.9 to this movie….

  • Justice V

Yeah seriously. There are so many factors to it too. Storytelling wise it’s still very much a Japanese style movie, with lots of exposition in the beginning, the way certain things are shot, editing etc. most reviewers don’t take that into account and judge it to Hollywood blockbusters, marvel movies, or acadeny award winning films. Also not taking into account that the film is part of a larger universe and not meant to hand feed you all the answers in one place. In that last regard I can see as a film it being docked. But almost every reciew I’ve read has been stupidly harsh on it for no reason. The IGN on almost more than any. Movie was full of light hearted parts and humour her claim that it was too serious was just dumb heh.
