Tabata: Currently no plans to reveal more on the Versus XIII project

The story of Final Fantasy Versus XIII is no doubt a long one, still shrouded in mystery following the departure of director and story creator Tetsuya Nomura. The drip feed of media and interviews over the years gave us bits and pieces but never the whole picture – and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change any time soon.

Speaking with JPGames, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata revealed it wasn’t specific scenes they decided to carry over from Versus, but ideas that would benefit the game and support what they wanted to do going forward. “Of course we wanted to retain as much as possible as we went into Final Fantasy XV,” he explained. “But the overall quality is more important than individual scenes.”

When asked about Stella’s history and original role in game, Tabata had this to say: “At present, there are no plans to release information [concerning her role in Versus XIII]. If there’s a great benefit or bonus for the players, fans or for us then we would think about doing that. But presently, there are really no plans to reveal more information on the Versus project.”
