Nobuo Uematsu teases new song "Revolutions" for Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood

First there was “Answers”. Then there was “Dragonsong”. Now: “Revolutions”. A fitting title for a theme set to lead the charge into Final Fantasy XIV‘s upcoming expansion, Stormblood. Fans got to hear their first taste of this new song during today’s Fan Festival opening keynote celebrations where composer Nobuo Uematsu shared a clip and some insight on its development.

“Dragonsong” was more of a ballad so this time Uematsu wanted to create something with a little more raw power behind it. Rather than the feel of the song coming from a benevolent god, “Revolutions” is told from a more human perspective. With Susan Calloway cemented as the voice of Final Fantasy XIV, Uematsu believes she will be able to capture the human spirit just as well as the sentiments of Hydaelyn as seen in the game’s previous two main themes.

Uematsu also noted the popularity of concerts such as Distant Worlds has allowed fans who don’t necessarily play MMOs to experience FFXIV‘s music – the likes of which continue to receive positive feedback.

Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood is scheduled to release on June 20 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Mac.
