Backstory

After losing to the enemy high commander Ravus, Gladiolus is forced to swallow a bitter pill and face the limitations of his own strength. In order to travel with the Chosen King, he realizes he must also possess a comparable level of power in order to protect him. In the ancient ruins that were found in the Kingdom of Lucis 30 years ago, the spirits of heroes that once served the king await the next generation of warriors.

Gladiolus parts ways with his entourage and meets up with Cor, the sole survivor of the trials. Now, with his mentor at his side, Gladiolus sets out to challenge the Shield of the Founder King: the Blademaster, Gilgamesh.

Features

  • Uncover the story told through Gladiolus’ perspective – While Final Fantasy XV focuses on the bond between Noctis and his friends, Episode Gladiolus allows players to find out what happened when Gladiolus leaves the party.
  • New exhilarating action battle that matches Gladiolus’s character as the King’s Shield – While the main game’s system was designed around Noctis and his mobility to warp and dodge enemy attacks, Gladiolus fights by blocking and counterattacking with the new “Valor” and “Rage” system.
  • New environment – Players can access a new area that was previously not accessible in the main game.
  • Obtain special items that can be carried over to the main game – By completing the episode, players can obtain special items that cannot be acquired from the main game.
  • New gameplay modes – In addition to the main episode, two additional gameplay modes, “Score Attack” and “Final Trial” are available upon completing the episode. These modes offer an added challenge and high replay value for the player.

I really hate what they did to this game. This story DLC makes no sense. Especially in a Final Fantasy game. And the sad thing about it is that there are people actually defending this. You paid $60 for a game and should have a complete, amazing experience. Not a half-assed, incomplete piece of crap.

  • DairyQueen_DQ

so in short its like they’re saying “future final fantasy titles would now be incomplete and it’s now required to buy the dlc to have the full game”.

I wouldn’t mind if the dlc was mainly for new enemies/boss fight like in final fantasy 13-2 coliseum. Now that was a fun idea to add dlc not for storyline.

  • Ulises

6 more days, let’s see how this turns out…

  • Noctis

Sorry guys but whats the point of this? Gladio getting stronger to defend who a sacrificial pig? We all now what will become of his precious King….Reclaim your throne Bull****

After Gladio comes back nothing has changed no new skills nothing, of course they couldn`t show us whats new with him cuz this would spoil us for the DLC.

So I`m asking again whats the point of this? This just makes no sense!! Go support this garbage

  • Digidom

    I too have a complaint.

  • I don’t get people complaining, I assume they haven’t played the main game…

It’s probably not anything significant story wise, but provides an excuse to play as a different character than noctis. Something they couldn’t do with the initial release.

For a single player game, some newer gameplay rather than more of the same is a welcome thing to pay for.

  • Alejandro Grønhaug

Are you stupid, or just pretending? Almost every RPG has DLC episodes.
13-2 had the lightning episode DLC, that you’ve so conveniently forgotten.
There was planned DLC for 13 as well, but it got scrapped along with most of the ongoing projects at the time due to 14 tanking.

  • DairyQueen_DQ

the episode of lightning was mostly fighting caius, It wasnt even a storyline for me. I knew what was going to happen before it released. you didnt need to purchase the dlc to know what she was doing. the only thing i didnt know was her being in your party. Atleast her dlc brought better replay value to the game.

  • NewestType

$60 for a game is actually a pretty good price considering EVERYTHING else since 1992 has gone up in cost quite drastically. It’s kind of a miracle some games can even be made considering how that $60 gets split up in the industry.

Personally I haven’t had an amazing experience since being trapped on the side of a cliff. but yeah. i dont expect to be amazed by video games.

  • NewestType

well they did say he will bring ME chocolates. so im totally going to get it just so i can stroke his hair [like with the demented grin].

  • Invictus

Like I always say, let the season pass owners savor the dlcs bit by bit. Let the non-season pass players wait for a definitive edition in a year or two.

  • Roberto Ushisima

    So…

  • Kyle

All the hate is a little weird, and this is why I rarely join communities for single player games… because you have more people that think they know what it’s like to develop games or they are whiny and entitled.

I’m going to enjoy every piece of FFXV content I get. 😀

  • 2me

I know the world map had been scaled down, continents were edited and villages/towns are missing. Even DLC is accessible, it’s still odd to see desert area attached with area like Duscae and there are still tons of barriers. I am not sure if Tabata’s going to make the land/villages/towns as he said but I think the profit to DLC is more worth with those than making additional stories for already Wii-U story

  • Krijn van Alten

    Good to know dear!

  • CallMeGod

The reason this happen is because we have stupid blind sheep who like to get screw over by paying $60 to beta test a game for the developer and then pay more money to help them finish their game. Everytime I see them defending SQ screwing them over it just make me LOL.

Final Fantasy XV just miss a lot of content inside the game.

  • •december

Wii-U story what in the heck that part confused me

  • 2me

you won’t like it once you notice therefore I’ll leave interpretation up to you

  • CallMeGod

Who care what people say, since you’re a sheep spend your money however you like.

  • CallMeGod

I assume you didn’t play the main game or maybe you’re just another sheep who likes to go baa baa baa baa when their Master SE call for them it times to make money rain.

  • Alejandro Grønhaug

“For you” is the key word here. Game development projects can quickly become extremely costly, it is then imperative to recoup costs one way or another. DLC provides such an opportunity. Episode Gladio isn’t “cut content”, cut content is content that is intentionally removed from the game. The Gladio DLC was never in the full game to begin with and has been in development ever since the game came out, the fact that your cheap ass doesn’t want to pay 5 dollars for it doesn’t make you entitled to it. You could’ve bought the season pass while it was on christmas sale, but you didn’t, so suck it up.

  • I’ve put like 80 hours into it and slowly trying to Platinum, besides the action battle system, this game design is as close to roots as they’ve ever gotten in post ps2 era.

So yeah I love the game and happily support more…I just hope they don’t go crazy with the engine again and just build on luminous to focus on making a better, bigger game next time.

But for what we got, I’m more than satisfied and confidant in the series.

  • alef321

the shitty ending is already done.

there’s no payoff to any of this other than having fun with the ”game part” of the game.

  • Ryuke

Wii-U story is a compliment, surely? If a lot of games had a story with the quality of some of the Wii-U games’ stories I’ve played then that would be awesome!

  • Ryuke

Who’s the bigger sheep – the person who enjoys a game they bought with their own money, which is completely their prerogative, or the person who sits there calling everyone a sheep joining all the other trolls posting the same comments over and over?

  • Noctis

    You are a sheep (mehehehehe)

  • •december

    Episode Gladiolus motherfackers!
I absolutely love people moaning and whinging about future FFXV DLC releases that they have clearly already played via timeskip/alternate reality… keeping me thouroughly entertained!

  • Invictus

I bet you have the season pass mate? 🙂

  • Noctis

you remind me of a little child when he gets his first chupa chupa to lick on…..go lick tabatas team shoes

  • Noctis

    you make no sense

  • NewestType

TBH the DLC is to make up for the 4 party system removed from versus. So it gives you a bit of control. DLC HAS to be fun. not make sense. its just a game.

  • stevenm281

Any true fan of FF15 should have it!

  • Ulises

    GOLLUM!! GOLLUM!!

  • Invictus

Point taken. Oh man no. That is not a good basis. If we continue to indulge in these dlc episodes, we’ll get incomplete games each time. I’ve purchased every single mainline ff game way back. It’s just a bad roadmap for ffxv as of late. I want to, but I just can’t.

  • stevenm281

    Its a lose-lose situation.

Either we don’t purchase DLC and don’t get to play new content, or we do buy it to play new content, but it gives SE the approval of going on with this method.

The only way I wouldnt encourage DLC is if the title is not to my liking, but it isnt the case with FF15.

  • Invictus

A lose-lose situation wherein game devs and consumers should stop following. I agree. It pains me a lot to not get to play episode gladio and the other dlcs since I love ffxv to the point where I am so pissed right now with how it turned out. let us know how the dlc plays. If it’s good then, I might get one

  • Kyle

    Well said.

  • Kyle

You are really passionate! I like that about you!

  • Artemis Polara

I don’t think it’s useful trying to provoke people at this point. Though it does seem to be a popular pastime as of late.

  • •december

At this point is there really any point to complaining?
    That’s why it’s entertaining…
Anyone who still has a grudge against this game by now is probably bored with their grey little lives

  • •december

    Ryuke, drop the mic~!
    Lol.
    10/10

  • Justice V

    Can’t wait.

  • Justice V

Eh I just buy dlc I want as it comes. I think I’ve only ever bought one Season Pass, and it was around when they first started coming out. Was a waste and an annoyance. Easier to just get what I want and skip what I don’t. Like the carnival and the booster pack+ were pretty worthless to me, but the episode DLC’s I’ll be getting. 3 episodes = $15. Maaaaybe get the multiplayer dlc, but I hate playing multiplayer so will have to wait and see. Still in the end the most I’d end up paying is the same or just a little more than the season pass, whereas if I get the season pass I’ll have bought at min two things I could care less about.

  • Justice V

Point is to play as Gladio, see how he got his scars and add a little more mythology to the world. Nothing too relevant to the gameplay of the main game, but just a bit extra to the story as a whole. Similar to playing Batgirl, Red Hood and Harley’s DLC in Arkham Knight. None of that carried over to the main game with Batman, but added little bits of story and fun to the overall experience. Same as Ellie’s backstory with her girlfriend in the Last of Us DLC. Didn’t add anything to the main game, but added a little bit of story for the character who’s with you throughout most of the game. Just for fun and enhancing the world.

  • PvP4FFXV

I really hope Gladdy’s old versus XIII greatsword is in this dlc.

  • •december

Considerably unlikely, but it was a good, heavy/mechanical looking Greatsword.
A lot of Versus XIII was indeed concept, but nothing’s impossible.
I love Gladio’s current Greatsword of choice, and look forward to the new weapons we get.
The way things are going they just need to finish polishing the lore of the game and get that all out in the mean time, before re-tracing the steps of Versus.

  • CallMeGod

Who’s the bigger sheep-the person who defends a game company that’s getting their ass screw over by the same company who they are defending an incomplete game when the director himself have said they purposely create a garbage as story for a game and you’ll get the full game after paying us more money LMAO.

  • xMysticx

TBH, its removed for more cash
the more you talk the more i see you are a sheep for SE

  • Justice V

While I really hated most of the sword designs from versus, I wouldn’t mind if they put it in for the people who liked them. Leaving the motorcycle engines off the swords was probably my favorite aesthetic departure from Vs though.

I am curious what sword he will get via this dlc though. Hope it has a nice design, and not just using the same as designs already in the game with medium tier stats.
