    *Yawn*

  • kfart

No one has the strength to play this game anymore.. just move on to FFXVI please!

  • same

who cares, nier automata has replaced this shit

  • Awesome, It’s always nice to have reason to be back again 🙂

  • Aulix Indragonz

i agree, the story dlc is half baked too just like the main game
showing SE doesn’t care about releasing good content anymore and just want that additional $$$

  • Aulix Indragonz

somehow i think you’re being sarcastic

  • Nope, just your imagination. I simply love the game.

  • Davorbasic

That still won’t fix the story

  • Eyoi

Updates don’t really matter when we finished the game 5 months ago.

  • Zero_mask

the development progress in this game is beyond imagination the game is finished and very disappointing. its a success on sale but in the heart of consumer nah i dont think so. try to move on SQUARE i care for the next entry get it gud..

  • Luke Watts

Been saying ‘They’ll listen, and get it right next time’ since 10..
I hope Nomura is playing close attention to what fans are really saying about this game.

  • wookieyoongie

I’m having too much fun playing Nier:Automata. Will come back for Episode Prompto since I already paid for that. Hopefully it won’t be that bad, but meh.

  • Eyoi

You better hope so because if they catastrophically fuck the remake up they’re going to lose a big portion of their older fanbase.

  • Ja Wangnan

Seems we’re an extreme rarity, eh

  • Breathless

To be honest I’ve come to feel … idek, resentment? Something along those lines. For this game, I mean, which is strange because I used to be really excited for it. Now it just makes me sad.

  • Wazi the pa

I really do admire their continued support on the game and I do understand their ambition to improving the game as much as possible…

However, I feel they’re just beating a dead horse now. I’ve moved on from FFXV and I don’t see myself ever coming back to it despite its upcoming story DLCs and additional content.

I don’t speak for everyone, but I was disappointed with the game.

  • Regal Judge of Wings

Oh hahaha I’m the same. With every new pointless update they announce, I feel like they’re forcing it down my throat and it makes me so salty and sad.

  • Wtf is the point of this anymore. glad i skipped this one. Buying it when i see it for 10 bucks. Less than what i payed 13 for and thats saying a lot…

  • Arloa Darlene Brantley

You guys really don’t know what the heck you’re talking about. Nomura only created the main characters, but the story was not his. You complain because it’s not what you want, suck it up! Leave developing to the professionals who actually get paid to do this. You will honestly never find any game set to all standards, because the game wouldn’t run! Also, this game is now standard for future Final Fantasy games! Want an MMO, go play XIV! The servers are still working! If you don’t like the updates, fine. Move along and not be bitter because you don’t like the way the story went. Don’t like it, don’t play it… That simple! Personally, I want to see where they take it. I know the story is not done. They had a deadline, and it had to be pushed through. So settle for what we have as they build it up even more, because let’s face it…. THEY ARE NOT DONE! We’re still only on the tip of the iceberg folks. You guys complain about Chapter 13, Ring of the Lucii, timed quest, and every other update…. well guess what, they heard you! Countless updates to make it easier for YOU! Complain because the gameplay was too easy, let’s throw timed quests and overpowered bosses. Every single time a new update is released! Stop hating and get a life! Don’t like it, move along!

  • I think it helps to show that their next game will get after market support despite any hardships. If a game company drops the ball with DLC and after market support, I have very little faith in their next title.
Though I hope they round out the DLC and patches by the end of the year and concerntrate on the next numbered entry.

  • James Stine

If this is the standard for FF titles then the series is doomed to fail. XIV is a good example of keeping the FF brand alive, while XV is just trying to milk the universe as much as possible and shoehorn in more story content to appease the people who actually care about FF story and the people who have been waiting years and years for it to even come out. Nothing in XV is hard including bosses and timed quests. XV shouldn’t even have timed content to begin with, this is a single player game, so why is there all this content designed like this was an MMO?

You tell people to “stop hating and get a life”, but who are you to tell people what they should or shouldn’t complain about? You’re just like everyone else, we all bought this game, we are entitled to our opinions. If you don’t like how people endlessly bitch about the game, that’s fine, but you don’t have the right to tell people to stop complaining. Address people individually as to why you disagree with them, but don’t expect to shut people up with this post, because no one is going to listen to you.

  • indeed.

  • •december

Timed quests will also start up again
…For those saying they stopped doing it!
This isn’t exactly as exciting as per se new story or environments (needed right now), but Timed quests have been good to me so far, it’ll be nice.
Won’t get my hopes up until Episode Prompto!

  • Noctis

What Tabata and his team don`t get is, who wants to replay this depressing story? No there is literally no satisfying feeling when completing the game. No Tabata this is not cool!

Also confirming tabata likes everyone dead:

Hajime Tabata: My favorite character in Type-0 is the soldier who dies in the intro. His name is Izana. Ace, Rem, and King are my suggestions for beginners. For more advanced players, I’d use Trey, Jack, and Eight (or Seven).

  • •december

“I’ve moved on” / “Nier automata has replaced this”
So why are you here exactly? There are Nier comment sections on here with barely 3 comments, which need your attention and dedication

  • Wazi the pa

I will admit, it is pleasant and enlightening to see a game receiving such meaty updates.

  • Arloa Darlene Brantley

But every update? Come on now!
Fun fact, Versus XIII would have only taken place in Insomnia.
Another fun tidbit: they are adding multiplayer function once they work out all of the bugs and glitches called “Comrades”. So they are setting us up for that. (Last they stated, they were trying to get character customization to work for two consoles, and possibly PC.)
Complaining every update, just really divides the Final Fantasy fan base! It really does. It’s sad, because each game has its quirks and downfalls.
And saying you’ve waited for a long time…. HAHA! Kingdom Hearts III was announced in 2005, and it’s still not done or even close to a release. Be patient and see where this one goes. I have been waiting!
The fact you replied, means you saw it and responded, which means you actually care. The series is not doomed to fail, but it’s pulling in the next generation of players. Risky? Yes, but it’s pulled in more players by adding this. Stepping it up for the next generation of players and customers. So really, you should really take it in stride. There are still a lot of people playing this game. Every time I sign in, my friend’s all log in to play and enjoy (People I have been playing with since GTA5). So, Square Enix must know something that complainers don’t. Leave it to the professionals. Because obviously they are still making bank from this installment.

  • Wazi the pa

Their dedication to supporting the game is incredible. I’m not a fan of how they push out of some the new content, but it’s great to see nonetheless.

  • Noctis

Indeed at some parts it feeled like an mmo

  • Umar

One really does have to admire how much they’re still working on this game. Regardless of what some might think about the game, it’s great to see a SP game getting so much post release content. Square really has come a long way.

  • James Stine

    >Fun fact, Versus XIII would have only taken place in Insomnia.

    Citation needed.

Just because I read what you said doesn’t mean anything, someone posted this comment in a chat room so I looked at it and replied. I used to be obsessed with Versus XIII and XV until the game came out and it left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

  • •december

    Yup all of this!

  • Karysonson

    >Kingdom Hearts III was announced in 2005

Actually it wasn’t. The next game announced for KH after 2 was Birth By Sleep. KH3 was announced in 2013 alongside the new XV.

  • Codes McGodes

Kingdom Hearts III was announced in 2013**

Kingdom Hearts III has been anticipated since 2006**

  • Umar

Yeah, I won’t lie, there are days where I feel like calling them Squaresoft again, though I know they will never reach those glory days again. They’ve really come a long away since last gen and I feel my love for the company returning, and it makes me really, really happy.

  • Arloa Darlene Brantley

Alongside it, announced that they were storyboarding at D23 2005. I watched the video with my friend Lex, as he was huge into it. It was also stated at the time that that was the goal for the end of the arc. They would decide when it got into animation whether or not to continue with it.

  • Eyoi

Pretty much just took the words out of my mouth.

  • Arloa Darlene Brantley

That was all that was given to us from Nomura. Gameplay videos on YouTube only showed Insomnia. Noctis was supposed to remain in Insomnia during the Imperial invasion. “A Final Fantasy based on reality.” The entire sets they released for Versus XIII all take place in Insomnia. Tabata changed it to a wider spectrum when he took over and they all decided to give it its own title in the series. The fights and everything were going to be in Insomnia while they (as Ignis plainly puts it) “make them pay” (along that context).

  • James Stine

There were sections in the game that were not in Insomnia, take for example the outside areas shown in some of the trailers. To assume that an entire game would take place in one city is just ridiculous. Versus was going to be game about reclaiming a crystal, you can’t exactly do that in the confines of the city the crystal was taken from, now can you?

You’re just making stuff up, and that isn’t going to get you anywhere.

  • Because it’s a comment section where opinions are going to be shared and discussions are going to be started. Both can result in good or bad but that still subjective to ones beliefs. Instead of trying to call out people who down the game for THEIR own views why not take this information into account and either engage them with a healthy discussion or pay no mind to them altogether.

The FFXV train is always going to have people aboard who dont like the game and ones who do. Nier doesnt have many people rallying to talk down about the game because even though it sold less than XV it’s still regarded as a great game from about 90% of the people that brought it and a lot of those people who brought that game brought FFXV I’m sure. With that being said, you’re going to see a lot of Nier comparing people for a while because it’s still fresh in peoples minds and as long as FFXV gets content this is going to be the case and it will revive even worse when KH3 and FF7R releases because both of those are handled by Nomura. So if he does his job with those two games I’m just letting you know right now this FFXV will not end until those two games are out.

  • That’s fucking right!

  • Noctis

This game was about reclaim a throne.

But as most of you knew, there was nothing to reclaim…..I remember them telling us in the trailer and with some t-shirt to reclaim the throne muhhahaha we all know what there was to reclaim!

  • James Stine

FFXV’s marketing was centered around “Reclaim Your Throne”, Versus didn’t use that tagline at all.

  • Not only that but the latest trailer made by Nomura which was the 2013 trailer showed Noct in Altissia which is enough to prove that you dont know what you’re talking about Arloa. When the regions that were supposed to be in both games. The opening hours of the game has Noct in the lucis and then insomnia instead of the events of Kingsglaive happening.

And besides you make it seem like Noct is able to go all around the world in XV when we clearly see that he can’t because the rest of the world that isnt already accessible through in-game means is cut out of the game. People constantly make it seem like Nomura did a disservice to the fans with the wait for Versus but even with XV the game isnt 90% what it could have been under Tabata.

  • Karysonson

I’m going to be honest…there’s now update that will really “fix” this game. It sadly doesn’t have simple flaws like that but huge flaws in its design, direction, and story. Hell just compare the original world map that was shown in 2014 and compare it to the final one in 2016 using Insomnia as a reference point to gauge the size difference. And that’s before you factor in the amount of invisible walls, unused chunks of space, and the hallway that is Niflheim(Ironic that the worse chapter is XIII).

Not to mention who there used to be five different big countries with their own place in the war but in the final game were reduced to just a puny train stop(Tenebrae), sized down largely(Accordo), and just deleted from the map all together(Solhiem). Each also had their own Crystal. It’s obvious that the 3 year reboot time limit and the push to make a trilogy into a single title hurt this game in a way that it’ll never full recover from. You would think that SE would put their all into their next big mainline title that had the tagline “The legend meets it’s match” but instead they decided to gut the game of many important factors(including of course Nomura) all so they could just remake that said “legend” lol.

To the people getting upset at Tabata, I don’t blame you at all. He made a lot of poor decisions and put too less of a focus on the actual narrative. But this issue is a bit bigger than just him. At the end of the day, he tried his best to deal with the shit put before him and to that he has my praise. But ironically it was the same people who revived the Versus project killed it, upper management. They didn’t feel as much passion for the poject and had already started planning to make VIIR. Even more ironically is that it’s a trilogy lol. Honestly at this point, they should just finish up their updates, season pass content, make a pc port, and just drop it. It’s just digging up open wounds at this point. However, if they did decide to go ahead with that Versus rumor and remake the game after Nomura’s plate gets freed up from 7 and KH3, that might be a good route to go. It’d please the suits as the assets have already been made, they could potential spend the same amount as they would have on a sequel, and because of the Versus name it’d probably be able to sell quite well. I’m not going to act like this rumor is 100% real or even a legitimate possibility, but I do believe that might be a wise decision and a good way to repay the fans who have been sticking with them on a project for 10 years.
…Of course I also wouldn’t mind Nomura and Nojima just starting on something completely new. That’d be pretty nice.

  • Horizonx

Remember when Tabata said that they want to add more cutscenes to make story more coherent? Thats remains to be seen, only one absolutely pointless cutscene with Ravus fighting. And still they push all these timed quests and other shit down my throat. When i fucking finally see something story related already? Not timed quests, not leaderboards, not car skins, goddamit.

“We plan on support game for 1 year with content” – if this is the content that we will get for 1 year, thats dissapointing. Its actually been 5 months since release already, and yet we got nothing meaningful, except for 1.5 hours Gladioulus “I WANT MORE POWER” DLC

  • Noctis
  • Michael Stinger

Who wants to replay? Hundreds of thousands of players including myself. Just because you and a lot of other people hate it, doesn’t mean that everyone hates it. Admit that I’m right!

  • Noctis

    well your 50/50 right

but you can also admit that after ending the game there is no feel of accomplishment.
It just leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth.

There is also no urge to have a additional story as you know how everything is ending

  • Michael Stinger

Well what you accomplish is defeating the evil final boss and you sorta reunite with your beloved Luna. But yeah sure you do have a point there. Of course the feeling of accomplishment was way bigger in all other FFs except FF13-2. I know FF15 is far from perfect and I’m dissapointed and pissed at some things too… but it’s still a Lot of fun to me and many others, so I’ll keep on defending it 😉

  • Ryuke

This is exactly how I feel, couldn’t agree with you more. FFXIV keeps the franchise ticking over nicely until the next big FF game, along with titles like World of Final Fantasy and spin offs like Dissidia. The way FFXV is being, for lack of a better term coming to mind, whored out, is killing the franchise for fans and will most definitely be the death of it if this is the new standard. The DLC, fine, I get that, and as much as I hate that the DLC episodes contains content that should have been in the damn game already, I will play them out of interest and because I’m a fool who purchased a season pass. But all these updates with content, timed quests, new features and changes etc just scream of a team trying to desperately keep the game relevant whilst having no clue what so ever and further highlighting things that, again, should have been in the damn game already.

There’s a little part of me that wants to say “I appreciate the team still making time to work on the game, and update the game” but that is overwhelmed by the rest of me still with a sour taste from playing and still feeling like I got very little bang for my buck compared to pretty much everything else I played in 2016 and so far in 2017. So you’re damn right they better keep working on and patching the game as I want to come back to it when all the DLC is released and feel like I’ve finally gotten my moneys worth.

All I do when I see a news article titled along the lines of “FFXV to get new update this week” is roll my eyes and sigh. Not because I’m a “hater” but because I was so INTO the game until I played the game and seeing what they are doing to it now really disappoints me.

  • Ryuke

Oh, another comment calling anyone who criticises the game a hater, or to “get a life” or “move along”. How original and edgy of you.

You do realise you are in the comments section of a news article regarding a video game on a, primarily Final Fantasy, fan site? It is going to attract comments, positive and negative, from a lot of people. People who have every right to make whatever comments they want.

Yes, there are going to be genuine haters and trolls, ones posting comments like “who cares, game is shit” or whatever. But most folks with a few brain cells just ignore those and engage in healthy discussion. Your entire comment is basically a bloated, long winded, self indulgent way of saying “Everyone who doesn’t have a shred of something positive to say about the game should shut up”. Which is rude and exactly on the same level as the “haters” you seem to be so vehemently trying to silence. If you want the comments to be cherry picked and full of nice fluffy things to say about the game constantly then maybe you should participate in the FFXV subreddit more, you’ll go down brilliantly with the crowd over there.

  • stevenm281

If only all the people working on these… unnecessary updates would be working on making story cutscenes and new environments, that would be AMAZING, now it feels like they are totally wasting their time and money.

I moved to Rise of the Tomb Raider, next on my list is Uncharted 4, then The Witcher 3, I have yet to see content worth bringing me back to FF15, and usually I can play FF titles on a loop.

This was to be the best FF to date, I had trust in them for the updates, but since its release, its been very disappointing.

Even the additional story cutscene in Chapter 13 was short and rushed.

  • Multiplataformgamerz

to be honest the only feeling of acomplishment on FFXIII was to finally being able to sell the game to buy another, i’m kinda glad i skipped FFXV and surely i’ll just skip all the incoming titles, anyway i’ll be kinda reading about the games just cause i still have a grain of hope inside me waiting for that FF game like they used to be at FFVI VII or IX, and even VIII.

  • Multiplataformgamerz

still this looks better than FFXIII, it’s the only game that i regret buying in all my gamer life, but yea i’m skipping this one too

  • Ryuke

Having played all three of these I can safely say you have great gaming experiences lying ahead! Rise wasn’t as good as the first reboot TR for me personally, but I’m a classic TR fan and am not a fan of the new Lara anyway. Still perfectly enjoyable though, and fun to play. Uncharted 4 was a brilliant send off for the franchise and was my favourite entry after UC2, it tells a very human story. As for the Witcher 3, that is my game of the decade for sure and has fast become one of my favourite games ever. It’s a fine example of a modern RPG, story telling, gameplay mechanics, content at release and also the post-release content and DLC. I spent over 250 hours there and I still felt sad when I finally put the game down, and definitely miss playing it. I get very excited when anyone says they are about to start The Witcher series, or just The Witcher 3 on its own. Enjoy!

  • stevenm281

its a matter of preferences, for me, XIII was better than XV, but XV had and still has the potential the be the better game, its up to the developers to make the appropriate changes.

  • stevenm281

I’ve always been a fan of Lara Croft since my first TR game, TR2 back on PS1.
I loved the reboot, and I love the sequel.

As for the Uncharted series, its the only series my bf plays with me, he’s not much of a gamer, and if he plays something its Battlefield 4. So I’m very excited about the 4th installment. My favorite was UC2, and UC3 felt very short, so I was happy to read that people found UC4 much better.

Heard nothing but greatness about The Witcher 3, so I’m delighted to finally have the opportunity to play it.

  • stevenm281

“I WANT MORE POWER” DLC which isnt coherent with his abilities in the game past Chapter 7, as he’s definitely not stronger in the main game.

The team needs to put out content coherently.

But hey, Tabata did say they did not want a coherent story initially…

  • Starscourge

They’re just triggered because XV is getting supported and they are trying to “stick it” to the bigger game.

  • Starscourge

“X character dies so it’s pointless”
This is the dumbest shit I’ve ever read, by this logic any story where main characters die are pointless.

  • Starscourge

Nomura fanboys are cancer, they legitimately think KH is a well written series with depth. They complain all this time about Tabata putting out an “unfinished game” yet Versus XIII is literally an unfinished “game” that Nomura never finished.

  • Starscourge

XV has broken sales records so I hardly see how going this direction is “doomed to fail” when it’s a complete success. Persona 5 is a visual novel with turn based tacked on, that puts its story first, XV puts on the journey through the open world first which is why the last campscene has the strong impact it did, because it’s directly related to the time you spent with them.

  • Starscourge

    No.

  • Starscourge

Stop speaking for anyone but yourself. The XV team has nothing to do with XVI either so even if XVI was in development right now, them doing the XV DLC wouldn’t impact it.

  • Multiplataformgamerz

fair point, at least this one is open-world-ish, while FFXIII was a long hallway tutorial with the worst FF story even told and the worst character design, the small open world at the end didn’t make a difference.

  • stevenm281

Actually, it one of my favorite stories, which is very relatable to anyone whom suffered discrimination in their life. Lightning and Fang are among my favorite FF characters in the entire franchise, Lightning being my favorite character overall.

While exploration could have been better, and gameplay restrictions could have been removed, it still was a coherent and complete experience which FF15 isnt. It improved the exploration part but heavily neglected the story in favor of meaningless and endless sidequests.

Nonetheless, both are in my top 5 FF games.

  • Noctis

your the light every fans was waiting what? maybe you can heal us?

  • stevenm281

have you watched the 2011 trailer? A lot of footage occurs on the world map, not just Insomnia.

Many interviews mentioned Accordo, it even was featured in a CGI trailer back in 2008 I think.

  • Noctis

believe after ffxv the next entry will not be preordered and also not anticipated as this was when it was versus.

Oh and if its made by Tabata…..no buy, no support!

  • Noctis

    your really sure?

  • Noctis

but your triggered as well or are you not?

  • Jesiah Grant

I’ll come back to this game when every update and dlc is out

  • Noctis

    Dude…

    List of dead people:

Nyx, Luna, Regis, Glauluca, Noctis, Crowe,
Ardyn Izunia, Ravus , Iedolas Aldercapt, Ignis , Gladiolus , Prompto , Clarus , Luche , Verstael

I don`t know who I is skipped, but this is ridiculous

  • Noctis

    same ending type 0 had….muhahahaha

  • Starscourge

Why would I be triggered that a game I like is getting updates?

  • Starscourge

First of all Crowe and Luche aren’t in the game, and Nyx’s body is only shown at the end but he didn’t die in the game. Glauca and Clarus aren’t characters even mention in the game either, those characters have their spotlight in Kingsglaive, not the game.

Secondly Gladio, Ignis and Prompto don’t die, there is more than enough evidence to prove that, so you only have Noctis, Regis, Ardyn, Luna, Ravus and Iedolas who die, who are the Lucis, Tenebrae and Niflheim political figures too.

Thirdly what does them dying have to do with anything or somehow make anything “pointless? Again by your logic any story where main characters/political figureheads die is pointless. Do you also spout that nonsense when characters in Game of Thrones or Attack on Titan die?

And it’s not the same ending as Type-0 at all because Ignis, Gladio and Prompto aren’t dead, neither are Cor, Iris, Aranea, Cidney, Cid, Biggs, Wedge, Talcott etc.

  • Starscourge

I bet you even defend Nomura splitting FF7 remake into multiple games.

  • Starscourge

XV was more anticipated as XV than it ever was as Versus, stop kidding yourself.

  • Starscourge

Yes because they already said they aren’t, and there is 12 business divisions at SE, with at least 3 other divisions apart from business division 2 with focus on console FF titles.

  • Noctis

you don`t have any evidence, Noctis was a sacrifice so was Luna = game is pointless

  • Noctis

why not? your buying dlc for this bullshit then whats the issue? They practicably saying hey the story is so big we need to split to give you something to play when you will wait? Logic or not?

oh you would prefer another sacrificed game under tabata,

  • Noctis

    your are kidding yourself dude

  • Noctis

    your not

  • Starscourge

It’s OK you can admit if you haven’t played the game. Ignis, Gladio and Prompto all talk about stuff they are gonna do after everythings over, Gladio mentions he’s going to marry his girlfriend and Ignis says he might open up a restaurant, Noctis even asks him if he’ll know when the Dawn comes back and Ignis said he’ll be able to tell. That and Noctis is the one who went to die, they stayed behind and just fended off some Daemons until the Dawn came back, and the had been killing those Daemons with ease for 10 years on their own, even Iris had been. Why would a few Iron Giants somehow pose a threat when all of them can take them on no problem?

And before you start going “b-but they were with Noctis at the end”, no, that was Ardyn seeing them as in they are spiritually with him, not physically there, Ardyn shakes his head after seeing them and it was only Noctis alone there again.

How does a character being a sacrifice make it pointless? You still haven’t answered this, there are countless games and stories where the main character sacrifices themselves. You haven’t made a single coherent point.

  • Starscourge

That’s about what I expected from you.

  • Noctis

why do I need to explain it to you if you enjoy the game? Not sure what you want to hear

  • Starscourge

    Man that backpedaling.

  • Noctis

look it will be pointless to discuss things with you, i got that so I will simply stop arguing with you lol… this discussion is even more pointless then the game

  • Invictus

The fact that these “little” updates keep on coming is majority of the fanbase still play the game apart from us who bought and trusted the game. Damn. 🙁

  • Invictus

Better move on the Persona 5 people. That shit is GOTY material. Let’s go back to this in a year or two.

  • Joe Budden

Or for people that hate turn based, Persona 5 isn’t fun.

  • Dongmatteezzy

Persona 5 IS MORE fun than this. Excuse me, it has better story and characters I say.

  • I feel bad for those who loath turn-based, missing out on many great gaming experiences imo…

  • Starscourge

So you failed to back up your “argument” and then you backpedaled, and now you are just repeating your initial empty statement.

  • Noctis

Ok I will tell you know why I feel this game is without any Point at all!

Noctis father dies his fiance dies he loses 10 years of his life! And on top of that he needs to sacrifice himself….this is beyond pointless.

They even said a hundred of times reclaim your throne blablbla. You couldn`t even decide to tell bahamut to fuck off and do it in another way.

You know why? Cuz tabata changed versus changed the script and now you have this half assed game that is my statement!

  • Starscourge

DLC that expands content as additions to the main game is completely different to splitting up a game into massive chunks specifically to sell you it piecemeal. The XV DLC wasn’t even stuff they initially planned, Gilgamesh was never even planned for the main game to begin with so it was new stuff, FF7R is literally splitting up the game to sell you it in pieces. In XV you are still getting the main story with a start, middle and ending in a single game, and you then get additional DLC for cheap, literally $5 each. FF7R is going to be splitting up the start, middle and ending into different games and charging you full price for each part, assuming it’s three parts then that’s $60 for each part.

You’re a massive hypocrite if you’re going to chastise Tabata for what you’re accusing him of doing but then defending Nomura for doing what you claim Tabata is doing.

  • Starscourge

Versus fanboys are beyond delusional, holy shit.

  • Noctis

Tabata needed to trow this game out as soon as possible…..now you know why

  • Starscourge

“this is beyond pointless.” Why is it pointless? You still haven’t explained anything, you are just making empty blanket statements without any actual argument.

How does it being a sacrifice somehow make it pointless? You know in all likelihood Noctis was always going to die even since Versus right?

  • Noctis

you clearly didn`t follow the game since 2006…..not at all…..hahaha

  • Starscourge

You mean Nomura wasted 7 years fucking around and Tabata’s hands were tied by the higher ups and he had to make cuts because Nomura doesn’t know the definition of restraint or how to even manage a project.

  • Starscourge

Actually I have since the first trailer, and what does that have to do with anything I just said? Versus was always poised as being a tragic story, Shakespearean influences were clear just as they are in the final game too, people assuming Noctis would die had been one of the most common predictions about the ending for 10 years.

  • Noctis

    sure dude

  • Noctis

then you haven’t seen any leaked script till today

  • Lucas Nóbrega Maia

70% of FFXV’s team is still doing things in this game , those updates , until now were a bunch of little thing and quests , which do not take much effort to them.
So , they’re working on making story cutscenes and those updates right now did not delayed that , it’s just a way to incite people to steal play while waiting for the more important updates and DLCs.
What is tiresome is how much things needs to improve , story-wise………….
Well , right now I’m playing Horizon , and only open FFXV to do a time quest

  • Starscourge

“leaked script” Holy shit dude my actual fucking sides.

  • Noctis

fucking sides what? You know what go back into your hole

  • stevenm281

    I like Turn-based, yet, I dont like Persona 5.

  • stevenm281

We actually have no proof that they are indeed working on story cutscenes as they didnt specify anything regarding those, they could give us a slight idea of what they working on or how far they are into these sort of updates but they keep us in the dark.

What if they are only working on trivial content like so far has been advertized?

  • Naomha McPhraig

It would be absolutely awesome if SE released a patch that kills these load times on the Pro and allows you to use your OWN music in the player for the car rides. That would be KILLER. As it is now, I’ve played every single FF game over the years but I am not an OSD guy that wants to listen to the music of every FF game over and over and over again. Let me listen to my own tunes if I so chose. The FF music library, while vast and enjoyable in-game, isn’t something I’d actually go out and buy. Just not that guy.

  • Naomha McPhraig

You’d REALLY have to hate turn based to not enjoy Persona 5. It’s so fluid and fast it’s almost real time in the capability to just fire off attacks and kill mobs. Personally, I’d love to see FFXV or FF in the future have the ability to maybe switch between the two modes. Real time or turn based. That would be fly, for real. Kind of what the Dragon Age series has done. I think that would be phenomenal and all kinds of rpg players could play how they’re style dictates.

  • Lucas Nóbrega Maia

we have an idea thanks to Episode Gladio , remember that we receive a “demo” with the Verse Chapter 13’s update full of new cutscenes and although I didn’t put a NG+ , It’s appears to also have more Cor’s cutscenes.
We have two more Episodes , the multiplayer expansion and one other mysterious expansion.
So we have , at least , 4 more chance to put more cutscenes

  • Eyoi

You should really consider ending discussion with him. It isn’t exactly going anywhere. I’m not exactly a fan of the game either but the shit that he is spewing out and the fact that he can’t maintain his own argument makes people who disliked the game (but can see it’s positives also) look bad.

  • Invictus

I love how I blast a group of high pixies with a triple shot then go for an all-out attack lol

  • Invictus

Yep. In the end, we all play for the story and characters. FFXV may have better graphics, or gameplay or mechanics, it don’t mean jackshit if the story is empty

  • Serj_Angelo

More option to the PS4 PRO is definitely a plus, really happy to hear about that.
However all the other additions – not really sure what’s all the fuzz is about.
The only thing I truly wish they’d do is revamp the combat mechanics, but at this point I guess we’ll never get that.

  • stevenm281

I’m not talking about cutscenes in DLC, I mean in the main game.

Chapter 13 update added ONE cutscene including Ravus and Iedolas, very short, brief, and feel completely rushed.

Don’t let yourself be fooled by trailers, so far, I realize they are only meant to trick us into believing something greater than they are actually doing.

Cor cutscenes are part of Episode Gladiolus, so not a part of the main game.

  • Ryuke

I wouldn’t say it was a complete success at all. Every Final Fantasy fan I know who bought and played FFXV came away disappointed, and every gamer new to the franchise that I know played FFXV came away confused and unimpressed at what the FF hype was all about.
Now I know that doesn’t count for everyone but its a fair indication on the whole on how I think the FFXV player-base felt about the game.

And on the topic, Persona 5 is most definitely not a visual novel, there’s more gameplay and content in that than what ended up in FFXV that’s for sure. Which is such a shame as there was a time when Final Fantasy put its story first, and rightly so.
FFXIV is also not going anywhere any time soon or “doomed to fail”, in fact quite the opposite, it’s sitting around the second highest subscribed MMO after WoW last time I checked and the story alone for that game makes it a worthwhile investment. A FF theme park would be more World of final Fantasy, as FFXIV is very much its own game and highly recommended.

  • Casper

“Even more ironically is that it’s a trilogy lol. I’m not going to act like this rumor is 100% real or even a legitimate possibility, but I do believe that might be a wise decision and a good way to repay the fans who have been sticking with them on a project for 10 years.”

Yes, yes they should remember Versus

    https://www.change.org/p/square-enix-reboot-final-fantasy-versus

If we can get those shitty XIII sequels then you know what I want Versus back, you got the assets, you got the guys, you even have scripts, and you have the fanbase.

    #RememberVersus

Though seriously if they do this, I hope they make 3 games out of XV’s assets, 3 great games.

I even have an idea treat XV like the Omen trailer an alternate reality that the main characters in the Versus world dream about, and have it influence their decisions for example have a cutscene where Noctis sees his father die at the hands of Glauca in the XV Universe, and thus decides he must stay and fight off the Nifhelm empire.

  • Casper

Nomura didn’t waste 7 years, he didn’t have a staff for 7 years, he didn’t have a game engine for that time period

  • Multiplataformgamerz

haha, well it’s amazing how a game can feel so different for each person, glad you got to enjoy it tho, i wish i had a good time as you did, but i couldn’t stand the characters, surprisingly enough the only character imho that was solid and wasn’t a shoot in the air was Snow, i hated how Lightning was always turning him down despite being the only one that was able to keep his feet on earth, Sazh was good but plain besides his love for his son, the only one that acted as an adult all the time (well, he was one) but had not a big impact on the story. In other words to me it feels like a FFVII Ripoff, with the story revolving around a character that doesn’t know what to do, but this time they added annoying characters like Vanille and making it feel like a lost childs story, took all but the human and fun part from Cloud and put the rest on a Cloud-wannabe that loved to criticize Snow despite it being the true leader and being right almost all the time. I liked the combat system tho, was fun to be back into turn based combats, i don’t even remember why i completed all the side quests tho, i guess it was like a funeral to me, since to me FF is pretty dead, which is sad, i really liked it, aand the open world part of FF games are a must have, but if they can’t keep the good story on it, i pass, idk why if they used to be so good at it on the PS1 era.

  • Casper

Bruh XV only had recognition because of Versus don’t kid yourself, hell the only anticipation it got was because people were under the impression Versus was finally coming out.

If Versus didn’t exist XV would just be another disappointing mainline title in this franchise joining the ranks with XII, XIII, and XIV 1.0

  • Casper

At this point I don’t even care about XVI.

    https://www.change.org/p/square-enix-reboot-final-fantasy-versus

    #VersusXV

For serious I’d rather them work on spin-offs or remakes, until they know what their doing with their mainline games.

  • Holychit

That is your view…… In my mind it is not at all close to P5 in terms of story alone lol.

  • Necroqu

I really wish FF XV had the amount of polish and fluidity that P5 has, especially narrative wise.

  • Invictus

Are you saying it’s better than P5? Point taken bro. I respect that 🙂

  • Invictus

    Me too man.

  • 2me

I wonder where XV profit is being used on.
Using Nomura&Nojima’s ideas like this makes me angrier than their false advertisements. One day people will make videos about how SQ ended and 15 will be famous even more, like how MGSV and ME Andromeda did. Earn as much as you want, good for you

  • Morgan

You know I used to like this website and reading the fun banter of comments. But ever since FFXV came out, all I see is whining. And I’m not talking about your standard ratio of whining. But a tsunami of it. Fun Fact: This game despite it’s story flaws is alot of fun. I’m completely absorbed when I play it. A game hasn’t made me this absorbed when I play it since I was a child. I don’t comment on things I hate. Like ever. I’m sorry people are disappointed, but it’s like you people want to drag down or insult people who like the game. You want everyone to be as miserable as you so you nitpick at every flaw possible. Complain that they haven’t released expanded whatever in a MINOR FREE update. Get over yourselves and quite being so entitled.

Also NovaCrystallis staff. I really appreciate you collecting all the great news and keeping everyone updated. But whenever you write an article or comment on anything. I mean EVERY time. It’s clear you all are FFXIV fanboys and FFXV haters. Even in some of your podcasts you sound like you’re annoyed when you talk about FFXV. I mean no disrespect but it’s annoying. Can you try to be positive sometimes? It grates on my nerves when you’re negative 100% of the time about one my favorite Final Fantasy Games. You can still be skeptical but optimistic instead of following the Versus fanboys.

On the positive side, if people keep whining loudly enough about Versus, then we might get some sort of fun spin off in 10-20 years. That could be fun.

  • Noctis

We where waiting for your comment to be aware of this situation, thanks!

  • 2me

you want people let others who love XV and want them stop insulting but you don’t let people hate this game and annoyed, calling whining, fanboys blah blah blah

  • kfart

Hey sorry if I touched a sensitive nerve. But you don’t know for sure that any part of XV’s team is NOT helping in the pre-production phases of XVI. You’re making assumptions just as much as I was.

  • Morgan

I didn’t say that everyone had to be positive. No. I’m glad people are being honest about their opinions, but the negativity is excessive. It’s not intelligent conversations such as: I disliked this because “x”. It’s all “I hate it just because.” For example, I think FFXIII’s combat system was horrible but I still liked the characters and the story is okay once you figure it out. I didn’t just immaturely go “XIII is crap”

  • stevenm281

Judging from past experiences with the development of the FF series, its never the same team that produce two consecutive FF, they have :
    Toriyama’s team, Nomura’s team, Tabata’s team, Ito’s team.
    (for single-player FF)

    Since PS2:
    Ito’s team produced FF12
Toriyama’s team produced the FF13 trilogy, and FF10/10-2
    Tabata’s team produced FF15, and Type-0.

The online ones have seperate teams entirely, Naoki Yoshida (FF14
producer) already stated he has no interest in single-player FF.

Nomura’s team is busy with FF7 Remake.

FF16 is most likely being handled by Ito’s team, if not, it’s Toriyama’s.

  • 2me

Reviewers should say in that way so that their points can be valid, but I don’t fully agree with that aspect from comments. You don’t always write why you like or dislike when you press button for facebook post, none of us track back and ask them why they liked or disliked. Comment section is where you response and that doesn’t have to be in discussion form. If they don’t meet the standard of arguing than just concern those as like or dislike from facebook.

I get how negativeness is consumable, it’s not productive and there’s no point in doing so, but people are having hard time to be rational because that’s how angry they are with the lies

  • Vallen

    What are extravagant weapons lol?

  • Kyle

People make mistakes, mistakes were made with FFXV but it was still awesome and I think it’s time for those types of people to move on with their lives.

  • Morgan

I definitely understand that. People are passionate about it and they care, so they rant. I guess what I’m saying is people seem to be blowing it out of proportion. The game overall was a success commercially and got reasonably good scores across the board. Even with it’s story holes, it’s by no means a disaster. They hate it because it isn’t their idea of Versus 13 or perfect. Which no game is.

  • Kyle

    Can’t wait.

  • That pretty much sums it up well. FFXV was NOT a mistake. Just some mistakes was made. That’s really all there is too it.

  • 2me

that’s not the only reason why people hate, the product was far from what Tabata said.

As a piece of art, whether it was disaster or not is always subjective issue. Directions and details have objective answers on how close Tabata’s vision is to Nomura’s. As it’s success, I am not sure whether they success concerning future business, price dropped super fast in Japan and heard retailers has decent amount of stocks. SQ has a trump card, FFVII remake, but I am not sure how that will go. Credits can’t be patched easily and I am not going to buy FFVII remake even 7 was my first FF. I don’t want to insult people who like games I seriously don’t like but still I want all of us stop pre-ordering, it’s helping them releasing different products from what they advertised.

  • xMysticx

you see this is why i stopped posting here for the longest … narrative wise i take persona 5 any day . i like turnbased games yet i donyt hate overworld games or semi overworld ..

if they balance out the story and narrative im game
its just games now days feel empty or piss off sjw for no reason
end result you see is ffxv . hence why i stopped posting here as much cause people will tell me i wine too much

  • Victor Maciel

Nice to see other people that are not salty Versus fanboys around here.

    I loved the game, too.

  • kfart

Very interesting! I haven’t personally seen or played any of Ito’s work, but I’ve heard enough about FFXII to know their next game is gonna be quality. I guess that also answers my question about who would be working on XVI. Thanks!

  • •december

    Makes sense,
Playing Episode Gladio back to back with Prompto and Ignis sounds like a good plan.
But, I’m impatient, maybe there’ll be a playthrough when they’re all out

  • Yuntu

I really do not get what people expected from the patches. It´s like you all thought it would remake the game.

  • James Stine

If you don’t like negative discussion of a game (and I hear you) then just ignore reading negative comments.

Staff members have the right to voice their opinions as well just like you have the right to voice yours. Some of us are really frustrated with what happened with XV as we’ve been following it for years now.

  • James Stine

Final Fantasy should be story first though, that’s what separates each of the titles is the story. The excitement of getting a new FF game and seeing what new characters are you going to meet, what new world are you going to explore…

I was looking forward to Versus XIII and then XV. Things went up and down for me for a while, but after I saw the Niflheim trailer showing the newer combat system I was sold and felt like nothing could go wrong.

When the game came out, I was really enjoying it, I put tons of time into the demo in the first area of the game thinking just how much more the game will have to offer going forward.

However, I bought the game (pre-ordered it mind you) and played the game for a long time and while I had a good time overall and did tear up at different points in the story, a lot of it felt rushed and unfinished. I had more questions than answers and it just felt lackluster as a FF game. I think the only reason why I wasn’t completely disappointed at the end of the game is because they through on a sappy ending which just catered to how emotional I get.

XIV isn’t just FF theme park, I don’t feel like you’ve actually played it. Yes, even Yoshida mentions that XIV is a bit like a theme park MMO, however, to say that’s all it is would be a gross misunderstanding of XIV. XIV has a rich story with lots of lore and background into anything you can imagine.

I’m not some Nomura fanboy or anything, but I can say I was looking forward to Versus on the premise that Nomura would be making it. I didn’t like Type-0 at all, and while I like XV, it honestly put a bad taste in my mouth and I honestly don’t want to play the game ever again because of that… which is sad, because it was my most anticipated game for over a decade. I got into huge debates with people over why I felt like the game was still gonna come out and how it was going to be a great game, and now I just feel like a fool.

You can disagree with me all you want, but these are my true feelings as diehard FF fan for many years. If it wasn’t for FF, I wouldn’t be the person I am today.

  • Wazi the pa

If our comments are valid and critical as opposed to full of nonsense, I don’t see the problem with being totally “negative” towards FFXV, especially when some of us are disappointed with the end product.

Look, what is fact is that **we’re all dedicated and passionate fans**. For whatever good or bad reasons any of us say about the game, we say it out of respect and out of the hope that future Final Fantasy installments could address those particulars.

If you don’t see that, then I suggest you turn a blind eye.

  • CallMeGod

And the winner of the Stupid Award goes to “Starscrouge” congratulation, congratulation, congratulation.

  • Some Random Guy

“If you don’t like negative discussion of a game (and I hear you) then just ignore reading negative comments.”

That would require being a grown up

  • Starscourge

You must be delusional if you think the general public even know or care about Versus on the same much larger scale as they do XV.

  • Starscourge

They’ve already stated they aren’t working on it.

  • Starscourge

Just no, XV has recognition because it’s XV, it’s anticipated because it waa XV. Versus was a spinoff that only nomurafanboys cared about then when it became XV the entire gaming community cared.

  • Starscourge

Oh boy the usual bullshit desperate defense from Nomura fanboys. He had a team and he did have an engine, he’s just terrible at managing projects which he’s admitted himself.

  • Casper

    BULLFUCKINGSHIT

If that was the case then Versus XIII wouldn’t have been the base of FFXV, the entire uncovered event with the release date and every was riding on the Versus hype, but you know what keep lying to yourself in thinking that Versus played no role in FFXV getting recognition. People were existed that Versus XIII would finally be released, they were living in a world where Versus XIII exists. People didn’t care about FFXV because it was a mainline, because if that was the case then Versus XIII would have been outright cancelled, and XV would have been something new something fresh.

You do know that people were hyped about XV in 2013 when it was first revealed because it was just Versus XIII under a new name, and given full priority unlike what happened last time where it wasn’t. Hell most people believe that the game had a 10 year development cycle that includes Versus.

Hell people were pissed about Stella’s removal
People are pissed about the Insomnia fight being removed
Hell if no one cared about Versus there wouldn’t be a petition about it, there wouldn’t be people on videos saying the E3 2013 reveal was full of lies.

  • •december

Engage trolls and ignore the irony? Nier Automata comment sections are still vacant. That’s just the way it is.

I’m the only one here with a unique approach everyone else is arguing and I’m stating the obvious… If you want the same old, same old comments, you’ll find them… but if you want that out of me I’m afraid you’ve come to the wrong guy!
    Kudos

  • Codes McGodes

Yoshida should make a single-player Final Fantasy. FF14 is the best FF in the last decade. I’d like to see some new directorial talent in Square-Enix’s ranks either way though. Ito and Yoshida are both pretty solid, Nomura has his good qualities but he’s dreadful with deadlines, and I’m really not a fan of Tabata or Toriyama at all. They’re both awful storytellers, and considering how controversial both of their mainstream titles were it doesn’t really make sense to put them in the director’s seat again so soon. At least not for another main series title. I wouldn’t mind seeing Kitase direct again though. He’s a shit producer but he was way more valuable as a director back in the day.

Also I’d just like to add that when it comes to production, it’s possible that a handful of artists may be shuffled around to work on FFXVI instead of FFXV, but it’s equally possible that they’d be shuffled around to work on lower profile titles like mobile games, handheld titles, or spin-offs like WoFF. Square-Enix is a massive business with several franchises and dozens of projects being worked on concurrently, so it isn’t simply a matter of moving on from one game to the next. At any given time they’ll be developing multiple projects at once and each production can readily change their production demands on the fly. So it’s very likely FFXVI is already being worked on, and they could just be waiting for FFXV’s DLC arc to end before actually announcing it so as not to take away from the FFXV brand.

  • You’re always the only one here that’s forever on FFXVs’s side and I’m not saying there is anything bad about that. But I clearly just said that it’s because of the game still being fresh in peoples minds because of the continued support and talk about the game that it’s always going to be compared something to something else similar. It’ll be compared to Nier because not only is it a hack and slash that does a damn good job in terms of gameplay that XV almost had but dropped it for something more slower post Nomura but it also has a good story. Speaking of which Persona 5 does as well so far and technically speaking it’s a damn PS3 game.

Both the two of those games are first games I’ve played in it’s series and both have gripped me from the very beginning to the point of addiction and XV failed to do that and I’ve been waiting for 10 years for that game lol KH3 is right around the corner and so is FF7R. I can’t predict whether or not those two will be good or bad, but I can say that FFXV had/has a lot of competition and you’re going to keep hearing these “old comments”. Do they get repetitive? Yes they sure do but again this is what’s going to happen until the attention for it dies down. I mean this is the same thing that happened to XIII after all. So we’ll see what happens down the road.

Until then, just let the [s]trolls[/s] people who dislike the game be and just keep praising it for the things you like about it. Because you’re fighting an unbeatable battle. It’s like me trying to tell everyone that Nomura or Tabata isnt to blame but Square Enix and their horrible development tactics of consuming some of the Nomura/Versus team to handle other projects from time to time (pre-2013) then time constraints on Tabata (post-2013)

Here’s my thoughts about this: I like the improvements for the pro, good.
About timed quests: I really don’t think stuff like that should be in a SP game. Just put the hunts in the game and let me kill it whenever I want.

I hope the bigger part of the team is working on story content and overall story improvments. That is the only thing that will make me come back.

I agree that you are one of the only people I see on here that just likes GAMES. You talk about the feautures that are good AND bad. I have seen some of your criticism of XV. And I tend to agree. Sometimes people have been hating this game so long they dont whant to enjoy it. It must be like playing video games with that annoying friend who has to comment every 8 seconds to hide their own insecurity. I hate gaming with those dorks. But im gaming first. I like to disect games in a way of: Ok they placed an event here, and whenever you interact with this event your jacket gets animated. When a game stumps me on the technology i feel immeresed again and appreciate what that developer is doing. Taking new risks with programming.

People don’t just hate it because it’s not their idea of Versus, XV gutted Versus XIII out, and as a game on its own it’s disappointing.

What people wanted was the game in the 2011 and 2013 Trailer if Tabata succeeded in that no one would complain, hell I would prefer it because at least it would be something great to build on so when the sequel comes out it would be much better than the first cuz as we know Versus XIII was originally envisioned as a trilogy of titles not one game.

  • NewestType

Im sorry but, Are you stupid?
you said he was lying, than he caught you lying, so now you just hide behind your idiocy?

are we allowed to do that now?

  • NewestType

    EMPTY PLATITUDE ALERT

  • Casper

People on here don’t hate Nomura it’s just frustration apart from XV not being Versus XIII as most people wanted it to be it became a disappointment in its own right. This led to a Nomura vs Tabata war. It also doesn’t help that Nomura is pretty silent when it comes to his projects.

  • NewestType

Maybe they can see themselves through his post and realize how far the stick is up there?

  • NewestType

Is that a technical and workload issue?

  • NewestType

    EWWW

  • NewestType

    I dont believe you.

  • NewestType

TBH it couldnt come at abtter time for me. Just moved and have a new job. Finished XV and loved it. I may just sign off from games all together as im reaching 40 and i just dont see the point.

I thought i was playing a good game!

  • Morgan

That’s what I don’t understand. Not trying to be argumentive here, but we don’t know hardly anything about Versus XIII. People act like XV defiled Versus when in reality we knew absolutely nothing about Versus other than cool trailers and ideas. How do you know that XV didn’t keep alot of Versus XIII stuff. We don’t. And honestly, I consistently see visual similarities between the two. Unless you believe the supposedly “leaked info” Which that might be true, I don’t know.

  • Morgan

Thanks for the suggestion. I think I’m about done with this place. Every XV article is “this was disappointing” followed by 100 comments “XV is crap”. Hahaha. Then why review or comment on it?

  • Adam Hedquist

I agree. I was referring to the people who can’t even look at constructive criticism without calling us whiny, haters or even trolls. Some people just can’t take negative comments, even though the critic is valid.

Alot of extremes on both sides have been showing up here lately….such a shame.

  • Casper

Actually we know quite a lot from the gameplay perspective that is where XV feel flat for some people we just don’t know that much from the story perspective.
Also how people know they didn’t keep a lot of Versus stuff well that’s simple when you take a 3 game story and condense it into one game things get taken out. Hell some of the notable things that got people into Versus got scrapped due to time constraints.

For some XV defiled Versus in the sense that it wasn’t the game they wanted to play, it wasn’t the game in the trailers at all, and that’s what people wanted out of XV. XV isnt a bad game it’s just not the game that people wanted and thus you have this.

  • Casper

XVs story is too choppy. I’d take trophy over choppy

  • xMysticx

TBH, and you see the nitche games are better than real fantasy that ffxv is sorry .. thats just my honesty here. just go take a look at nier automata too

persona and nier never shy away to portray mature stuff .. and to be honest also P5 is much better than ffxv in fact any game is at this point
its not just the appeal they can cross the bounds that ffxv couldn’t do and would not do
if you want to defend it thats cool fine by me

  • Starscourge

There is far more than story that separates the FF games, and story is just one aspect of the games, it being story first is just what you think it should be, not what it actually should be which is just whatever the director of each mainline title wants it to be.

And even with there being some unexplained stuff in the game I didn’t feel like it lessened the game, I followed every piece of media from the game since the Versus reveal and looked into every aspect of the story that was presented and I got a lot out of it, yeah in the back of my mind I kept saying “man where is Verstael why havn’t we seen him since that one scene” or “where did Cor go why isn’t he helping them?” but those questions didn’t matter to me by the end because I realized it was about the journey of them and the final campscene personified that.

You’re right I havn’t played XIV, but that’s because it looks so bland to me, every CG trailer they make looks flashy and cool but then the actual game is nothing like that, I’ve seen countless videos online of it, it just looks like an FF skinned WoW. I don’t personally care for Type-0 either, or really any of Tabata’s other games, but I got a lot of enjoyment and attachment to XV so it was fulfilling to me, even with some unanswered questions still lingered.

And to be honest if the choice between repeating XIVs development or XVs development then I’d take XV any day over another complete disaster that XIV was.

  • Starscourge

Your anecdotal evidence is nice and all, but all the people I’ve talked to about it enjoyed it, both fans and new, even my younger siblings who’s first FF it was and mum who watched them play it really enjoyed it.

And after putting a lot of hours into P5, yes it definitely is a visual novel with turn based gameplay and hallway dungeons. XV has more gameplay content and actual feeling of combat because of its action based nature than P5 does where you’re just picking words from a menu, and far more combat variety too, everyone in P5 is effectively the same methods of input of attack, do a persona skill or do a gun attack, if say for example you could have just one character be in the party the whole game in P5 but just with more turns and it would effectively be exactly the same as it is gameplay wise as having four party members, but if you look at XVs case then each four of them all play completely different, as will characters like Cor, Iris, Aranea and whatever else is going to be in the multiplayer expansion.

XIV was doomed to fail, it was ARR that gave it life again. In ARR you have Lightning show up and various other things that makes it feel theme parky. And for the record I hardly ever see anyone talking up the story of XIV, and anytime I do it makes it hard to care, especially since the MC is not an actual character, it’s just a blank slate you fill the shoes of, which is also why I find it hard to care about the MC in Persona or other games with silent protags.

  • xMysticx

ughhh , and the massive promo and the event that happened prior the game release ?… all the trailers and shit ? isnt that lying ?

afterwards, tabata interviews like a hot cake before and after all PR talk … sure you can defend but you cant say what i pointed was not a lie … :/

  • 2me

I don’t know who that is, I will take a look if you can send me a link

  • Stonespear

Agreed entirely. Yoshida led that team on an near-impossible task. Realm reborn was such a surprise when it released. I’d never have tried it after 1.0 if I weren’t a FF fan. What a mess that was. I’m glad I did though. I still play it today.

  • Stonespear

Well it’s pretty simple. They expected the patches to make the game better, and they don’t think the patches are making it better.

  • Yuntu

But they do make the game better. People just expect too much from free patches, especially the monthly ones. Big updates are only every 3 months together with DLC, that´s when people should expect bigger stuff and can be upset about it. But not for monthly free QoL updates.

  • Some Random Guy

I’m sorry but the argument is like this

“We wanted a better game because of X, Y and Z” – the constructive criticism you mention

    And the other side is

“Stop being mean to Final Fantasy 15. Yeah it has flaws but please stop being mean to FF15 because i don’t like it when you are mean to FF15”

The OP is shaming critical opinions as “Whining” which is a joke. The amount of shit directed at Eren (and Kagari?) in the past, its like people either don’t know or don’t care about being a cunt.

The NC community is the most self entitled and hostile to its reporters. They should turn these comments off. The fanboys can go back to Neogaf and talk about the conspiracy that NC has against FF15 and the people who actually want a discussion can go to Reddit.

  • Some Random Guy

“About timed quests: I really don’t think stuff like that should be in a SP game. Just put the hunts in the game and let me kill it whenever I want.”

This. I’ve missed them because I’m on a tight data cap. I wonder if the meaning of timed will changed from date specific to “You have to kill this enemy within a certain time” (like Episode Glaido score attack)

  • Some Random Guy

There’s always one person tho who sees any form of criticism as “being too negative”

  • Some Random Guy

I think some people are secretly hoping that the patches will change their opinion of the game (it wont)

If you liked the game, the patches will make it better
If you didn’t, it probably wont

Personally, i love the combat – it is a marvel – Any update that includes new weapons, enemies, hunts and locations I’m all for (So yeah, i like this update)

But the story was awful – and i accept that no amount of cutscenes will really improve it (in the same way BvS extended cut didn’t make me like BvS)

  • Yuntu

    I think the same.

  • •december

I agree what do you mean by SP

  • Some Random Guy

I appreciate that we share a similar opinion

  • Some Random Guy

    Single Player

  • •december

    Oh, Ok
But they plan on making it online multiplayer after all the main 3 Episode DLC are out lol

  • Some Random Guy

Not really sure how i feel about that – same goes for the off road regalia

  • •december

    Yeah, or the Magitek suits.
With these things like Comrades or Off-road Regalia I think i’ll just have to wait and see sorta thing

  • I just cannot believe that there are people out there that cannot admit that this game is ####
If people keep praising Square-enix for making games with flaws like this, they are going to get the impression that they did no wrong and are going to keep churning out this level of garbage for the foreseeable future, I am not going to want to play the games in this franchise any more if that is the case

fans should not just blindly praise something just because they are fans, they have a duty to call out on BS when it is necessary, so that this sort of BS does not repeat itself, Square-enix should know better not to #### with their fans by releasing a shoddy incomplete mess

  • make sure the door hits you on your way out, you will not be missed

  • you can put lipstick on a pig but a pig still going to be a pig

  • You would think that a game which fans have been waiting for a decade would have been in good hands with Tabata but nope, he just ###### everything up

Cup noodle out fits(!?) are you ####### kidding me!

  • I think so too after reading all their comments

  • but you are not right(?)

Tabata said there’s going to be many big towns as well, there’s really nothing in the story either, literally they barely used Niflheim Force in story wise aspect and they just put tons of fetch quests and unnaturally expanded chapters like ch13. Summon is the skeleton of their edited story and summon fights makes me cry. I am quite surprised with how defenders didn’t see that. It is impossible that BD2 weren’t able to see those so I partially believe the rumor about the serious issues with porting from PC to PS4. I felt there’s difference btw Tabata’s sense and one from Nomura’s and I prefer Nomura’s sense way better but still I think Tabata was able to do better than this if there wasn’t issues with porting (and still this doesn’t justify his false ads)

  • Some Random Guy

Wow… Really NC – my comment was detected as SPAM?
If you want, i can edit the curse words out of it – but here i was defending your right to say whatever you want – the irony

  • Codes McGodes

The patches are disappointing because they’re not enough. Granted they’ve only released a couple of them so there’s still rom for improvement, but the vast majority of the patch focus has been on minor tweaks or additions of things that weren’t points of contention to begin with. Create-a-character, off-road regalia, timed quests, additional photo modes, etc. These aren’t bad things to add to the game but the one single universal major flaw of FFXV is its underdeveloped, rushed, and poorly told story. It was exciting to hear that Square-Enix was planning on adding in cutscenes to fill in some of the plot holes and give more screen time to the many underdeveloped characters, but so far the additional cutscenes have been very few (literally one cutscene in the first patch), and poorly designed (accessible via main menu in Episode Gladio or an alternate route of Ch. 13 instead of being directly integrated into the main story).

  • Yuntu

Yeah, and many people – including myself – said that these patches aren´t gonna magically repair the story.

These patches will stay disappointing to you because they focus on the things players liked the most about the game, which is understandable from a business perspective.

I´m surprised they even actually added story cutscene(s) myself outside of DLC.

But hey maybe I´m just thinking to logical about this :v

  • •december

Thanks man Real recognises Real I guess? LoL
Good to see comments like these, kudos!!

  • Noctis

No new type…..you are stupid! and that is all I will and can say to you^^

  • Codes McGodes

You say that like I was expecting a magic fix to the game myself. I’m just explaining to you what people were expecting since you explicitly said you didn’t get it.

Look I had my doubts about the patches as well, yet that doesn’t make them any less disappointing. When Square-Enix says they’re gonna improve the story, you sort of expect them to actually do it. I mean you act like Square-Enix has consistently not given a fuck about their games post-launch, but how quickly you seem to have forgotten how much work they put into repairing their last two broken brands. It really shouldn’t surprise you that people had the expectation they’d do the same for FFXV so there’s no need to stand so high on that horse.

And it’s like I said. There’s still more to come, so they could still turn around and surprise us all. I’m not expecting them to, but one free patch does not define the rest.

  • Yuntu

    “high horse” sure bud

And what two brands are you talking about? XIV is not comparable in any way to XV and I dunno what the second one is

Sorry if I might have sound aggressive, but your comment seemed passive aggressive to me So I just returned that :^

  • Odin

Amazing at all the stupid people still playing this game and waiting for updates LMFAO. Persona 5 DESTORYS FFXV, there is no competition between the 2 games. Persona 5 deserves more sales and more worldwide exposer, but no casual gamers (the people who enjoy FFXV) continue to support games that don’t deserve any sales or deserve less sales because of the incomplete game released. The reason why casual gamers like FFXV because the story is so stupid, a 5 year old could understand it, Compared to the glorious Persona 5, which has more of an in-depth story and requires you to use ur BRAIN, in-regards to the gameplay mechanics. This is a typical story, the girl wants a bad guy (FFXV), but ignores the good guy (Persona 5). Most of you people still waiting for updates on this game, are killing gaming and are killing games like Persona 5, because of how you accept this rubbish. Update, after update after update. While persona 5 HAD NO UPDATES LOL. IT WAS A COMPLETE GAME. RIP FINAL FANTASY

  • Yuntu

And to make sure what I mean with “passive aggresive”: so many people on this site here are that way that sometimes I find it hard to see when someone genuine just explains something

  • Michael Stinger

Just fuck off and bother someone else with your boring bullshit, you cocksucking prick!

  • Wazi the pa

Hi there. I don’t believe we are responsible for the deletion of your comment.

  • Wazi the pa

I must ask you to refrain from insulting another with that level of language. This is your first warning.

  • Some Random Guy

    Then i apologise, sorry

  • Some Random Guy

    Interesting satire

  • lmao that exactly why I’m saying not stress over them so much. We all sometimes fell the need to share our opinions or correct someone with what we either believe to be right or is actually factual but in reality it’s just another person on the other side of a screen that might not give a rats ass what you’re trying to convey to them no matter how truthful it may be. And this is going to be the case for thousands of people you come across in many other comment section.

So if you’re going to comment then comment but dont lose yourself in mix of it all because its time spent in such a meaningless way over sometimes such trivial matters.

  • Gin Ichi

Amazing all these stupid people keep coming back and complaining on every FFXV post about something they hate. What a no life bitch lol.

  • Gin Ichi

1: You wont ever change people’s opinions and minds on the internet 2: Pretty sure Square enix know they fucked up on multiple levels, are free updates like this wouldnt exist. 3: If SE didnt know people on forums wont change their minds as a whole on what they should do, let alone ever see these posts.

Totally agree with you last paragraph for sure tho, they didnt have to spin that much hype, its a FF. And yea, it is very sad being a long time FF fan like yourself and this game and a game like ff13-2 ending are only making shit worse and pushing us away. I Cant blame SE tho, trying to meet deadlines like you say and catering to casuals, like 90% of the gaming industry does now these days.

  • stevenm281
  • Codes McGodes

Heh, and I was responding to your aggression with even more aggression. In that case it sounds like no one was intentionally aggressive to begin with so I apologize as well. 😛

I meant the FFXIII and FFXIV brands. I agree that FFXIV is obviously the best example of Square-Enix fixing a broken brand and no other game has had a launch as remotely dismal as FFXIV’s was, but FFXIII was also controversial enough for them to take notice. They didn’t remake it like they did FFXIV, but they did take a lot of feedback into account when they produced its two sequels in order to try and deliver an experience people felt they were missing from the original FFXIII.

Of course, FFXIII and FFXIV were released mere months apart, so that might have contributed to them feeling they needed to fix both games instead of just one.

  • Yuntu

Hmm I think that XIII-2 and LR happened because they needed easy money

i mean they retconned the XIII ending to make a sequel basically and that all of a sudden after XIVs failure, I think its a pretty simple conclusion (or maybe Toriyama just wanted to see his waifu Lightning more)

  • Codes McGodes

Hah, yeah you’re not wrong about that. It never made any sense for them to make two sequels out of the most unpopular game in the franchise. Still, they did take FFXIII’s criticisms pretty closely to heart all the same. I just hope Toriyama never directs again cuz I just KNOW Lightning will be making an appearance in it.

  • Yuntu

I think Toriyama is a good director, he just shouldn´t touch the story and have someone else handle that. Same with Tabata.

These guys know how to do gameplay (though people like to hate on XIII for that, I think its the best turnbased system in the series) but both don´t quite know how to structure a story. Well maybe SE just needs new writers.

  • Daniel Masterson

No warning for the guy who literally called people who enjoyed this game stupid?

  • Stonespear

Idd. I keep hearing the argument that they’re working on it, but I doubt that’ll happen. If they have any sense the team is working with another team on FF7R or FFXVI. FFXV makes people who like it happy and those who don’t (myself included) are tired of it. DLC and minor updates – sure, cool. It doesn’t need major updates because it won’t change enough. The game is essentially done.

  • Stonespear

Mmm… I disagree. People can expect what they want, but the expectation here is because it’s believed the team failed with the game and they want it rectified. Talking as one of the dislikers, the longer it takes the less anyone will be swayed to pay for anything or play it again. Just adding some of my perspective.

  • Codes McGodes

Yeah I agree with that. I loved FFXIII’s battle system as well, and it doesn’t deserve the hate it gets. It’s major flaw was that Auto-Battle command imo. The game is tremendous fun if you don’t use it. 13 and 15 both are lots of fun to play, just dreadful storytelling.

  • David Blakley

Lmao! You mad lil guy? Go suck persona 5s dick. From the looks of it, you’d take it in the ass too. Smh. Pitiful lil bastard.

  • TheKing

You are the embodiment of all the cancer in the persona fanbase. I love persona 5 more than FFXV but you are acting like a little 5 year old and I’m just cringing through your comment. Persona 5 isn’t for casuals you retard, this is. “Compared to the glorious Persona 5” xD. Keep sucking their dick, keep sucking on their streaming ban, you’re a disgrace to the fanbase, you prick.

  • TheKing

Thanks for not being a retard about it. There was another comment above you sucking persona 5’s dick andt that was just pure cancer. Yeah this game should have released in 2017, cause it seems like thats the year of JRPGs.

  • Wazi the pa

You can talk the good and bad of any game how ever you see fit, but don’t start condemning people just because they’re enjoying something you’re not into. This is your first warning.

  • Wazi the pa

Same goes to you. Refrain from insulting another with that level of language. This is your first warning.

  • Wazi the pa

Again, please refrain from insulting another with that level of language. We can certainly discuss something like this in a more sensible manner.

  • Wazi the pa

Come on man, you’re better than this. Regardless of difference in opinions, you can argue back without the use of vulgar language.

  • Ryuke

Well we both know different people who each have different views on FFXV, and that’s fine. Like I said, I can’t say the people I know are the ONLY views on FFXV, and neither are yours. That’s just the nature of an opinion, so we just have to agree to disagree there.

Your issues with P5 seem to stem from turn-based combat systems in general, so again if you don’t like that type of thing then fine, different folks for different strokes. I personally think it’s brilliant, and absolutely reeks of quality, much more so than FFXV did for me and that’s a shame.

With FFXIV / ARR though, I guess you haven’t played it at all then by your comments on it? Lightning doesn’t just show up, she was part of a limited time event which celebrated the launch of Lightning Returns, so there was a tiny bit of story as to why she was in the FFXIV world for that limited time but that was it. They had crossover events for multiple other SE games as well as FFXI too, but they are limited time and part of the ever changing game and content cycle that is typical with MMORPGs.
The story is one of the biggest pulls with FFXIV (by FFXIV I am of course including ARR and Heavensward in with that as well, as its all the same thing), and most of the praise for the game comes from the story, and how solo or multiplayer friendly it is depending on your play style. The main character is YOU, its not just some blank silent protagonist, it’s your character that you created. I think it provides an equal or even greater pull to the story as it’s happening to a character you should most definitely care about as it’s your representation in the game. The story is one of the strongest Final Fantasy stories I’ve experienced, and right up their with the fan favourites.
It’s a shame so many people dismiss the game because they are really missing out on a brilliant plot and cast.

  • stevenm281

I found XIV:ARR way too repetitive if you want to level up every classes/jobs, having to redo the same levequests/dungeons/guildleves is redundant.

Plus, the fact that our character doesnt really have a voice when its the only character we get to use, killed the story for me.

Its a good MMO but I have a lot more fun when playing World of Warcraft, DC Universe Online or Neverwinter.

  • Third World Tristan

They’re still spinning this nonsense? Kill this monster already, SE! It’s ugly and annoying.

  • Third World Tristan

    FFXV *IS* a bad game.

  • Third World Tristan

It would have been Game of the Decade if that was the case, but Tabata couldn’t properly direct his own ass even if his life depended on it, so this project was a failure from the day the took over.

  • Casper

don’t bother Alex Jones is a nut

  • John Smith

Really? Are they still trying to make this game passable after ALL THE LIES they made?
    This is just HILARIOUS!!!
Let’s review the biggest lies about this game and the main reasons MOST of the fans were interested in this garbage to begin with.
NOTE: Not literal quotes (since they are japanese and stuff so translation might be off or different but nonetheless you can find ALL of these promises within a few minutes with Google.)

    – “This game is going based on REALITY more than the Fantasy.”

.. Do I even need a comment about this? There was NOTHING in this game that would mirror our reality. Like really. None.
Or if there was something it was cut along with the whole VERSUS and Nomura’s dreams.

    – “We had to cut corners but we wanted to be very respectful for Nomura’s vision and want to keep the main theme and the main story of VERSUS.”

There was LITERALLY NOTHING which was remained form VERSUS. They have completely lied about this as well. They changed everything in the story, everything about the characters and EVEN CUT most of the things out and they also cut out MULTIPLE MAIN ANTAGONIST!!!!!!!!!!
But this is STILL ok I STILL wouldn’t blame them, after all even the director was replaced (thanks Square!!!).

    – “This is going to be the saddest, darkest, most TRAGIC Final Fantasy game ever made. We will concentrate on the HUMAN side of the characters and they will make decisions that might seem immoral to the player. IT’s going to be a SHAKESPEAREAN tragedy.”

This is THE BIGGEST lie about this game! This is DOWNRIGHT DISGUSTING!!!! They have been promised and repeat this promise FOR YEARS!!! Even in the OMEN trailer they were made it seem like the game is going to be very dark and very sad.
But what we REALLY got is a bunch of cardboard cutout cliche characters with BARELY any personality.
Immoral decisions? WHERE??? They were just like EVERY OTHER GODDAMN HEROES from ANY OTHER STORIES!!!!!!!!

    – “Yes the game will include PLENTY of BLOOD. It’s going to be VERY realistic in that way.”

    AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA…. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Really, I cannot even say anything to this lie. Just nothing.. Square Enix is the most disgusting liars I’ve ever seen. Not only there is NOT ONE DROP OF BLOOD in this game but they also CENSORED EVERYTHING TO THE GROUND!!!!!

How dare you do this with the people who made you the company you are today? How could you make SUCH A HUGE lies EVEN A MONTH BEFORE THE RELEASE???

I personally done with this company. You could HARDLY find anyone who was such a fanboy for Square as I was but after this I will NEVER buy anything from Square anymore.

Misleading the loyal fans like this is not only wrong but it’s downright cruel.
I REALLY hope that Square will lost a HUGE AMOUNT of fans after what they have done!! They deserve to fail more than ANY OTHER VIDEO GAME COMPANY!!!!!

  • John Smith

    XenoSilvano
You are COMPLETELY RIGHT! What Square Enix did with this game is unbelievable! All the LIES they have made is DISGUSTING and MISLEADING no matter who’s fault it is!!
Just a very few about the TONS of lies I STILL REMEMBER they made. But if you are doing a few minutes worth of research I GUARANTEE that you will come across MUCH MORE!!

IT’s going to be a SHAKESPEAREAN tragedy with some VERY BRUTAL scenes.”

Now THIS!!! This is THE BIGGEST lie about this game! Never mind that I and people I know bought this game for THIS reason but I have a feeling that most fans did the same and experienced the same feelings I did.
This is DOWNRIGHT DISGUSTING!!!! They have been promised and repeat this promise FOR YEARS!!! Even in the OMEN trailer they were made it seem like the game is going to be very dark, tragic and very sad.
But what we REALLY got is a bunch of cardboard cutout cliche characters with BARELY any personality. The story was kind of dark but it wasn’t even near to their promise.

How dare they do this with the people who made them the company they are today? How could they make SO MANY BIG lies EVEN A MONTH BEFORE THE RELEASE???

I personally done with this company. You could HARDLY find anyone who was such a fanboy for Square as I was but after this I will NEVER buy anything from Square anymore.

Misleading the loyal fans like this is not only wrong but it’s downright cruel.
I REALLY hope that Square will lost a HUGE AMOUNT of fans after what they have done!! They deserve to fail more than ANY OTHER VIDEO GAME COMPANY!!!!!

    1. That doesn’t matter. The more people will voice their true feelings the better chance that Lie Enix will understand what they just did.
    2. Updates can change ONLY so much. But it’s not going to change the story, the characters, the plot and ALL THE OTHER LIES they made.
Also they SHOULD have work on the mistakes BEFORE they realized the game.
    3. Again wrong. Lie Enix just like any other company do extensive research about people’s opinion. However when it comes down to it it’s still income>>>>>opinions. And thanks to their promises and their hype a LOT of disappointed fan (me included) bought the game since I had no idea they would EVER dare to to make such a DISGUSTING strategy against the long time fans.
    4. They had 10 YEARS to finish the game. But they pulled away ALL the resources from the game and pulled poor Nomura to help ALL the projects they had since FFXIII. If you go to Nomura’s page and see how many project he had to handle along with VERSUS you will see clear as day why Nomura couldn’t work on this game.
And if that WASN’T enough when Nomura FINALLY had the time and the resources to do the game what did they do?
They NOT ONLY replaced him but they completely RUINED his vision about the story, characters, plot etc…
That happened in 2013!!! DON’T tell me that they couldn’t make the game by that time! It’s all excuses.
They took Nomura’s game and his vision and completely ruined it and now because it has negative feedback from a certain amount of fans who doesn’t try to kiss their feet they are trying to bring to put the blame on poor Nomura and they are making up all kinds of bull only so they don’t have to admit that Tabata could have made this game into ONE OF THE BEST Final Fantasy ever.

TLDR: it was too long and didnt read. Also you’re two months late.

  • John Smith

It wasn’t longer than your comment. But whatever. And I don’t think that being late means anything when the topic is STILL valid.
Basically Square is a disgusting lying piece of shit company who deserved the fans the darkest, saddest the most mature Final Fantasy game they ever made with BRUTAL very gore nature and characters with very deep unique personality which will surprise the player sometimes because they will make sometimes a really immoral decisions instead of … Ending up what they are right now.
They are also promised that they are going to focusing on the HUMAN NATURE in the story making it a beautiful dark tragedy.
Instead we got this disgusting over-censored cliche story with cardboard cut out characters and zero darkness and NO BLOOD what so ever.
What really makes it EVEN worse is that they had never told us about the change in tone and even with the OMEN trailer they tried to lure is into a false sense of security that yes this is going to be that game they have promised.
If this is NOT false advertisement and if it’s NOT DISGUSTING I don’t have an idea what is. Lie Enix deserves all the negativity they will get because I’m sure that not only me but a LOT of other old school loyal fans as well will never get anything from the anymore.
I have never seen such a disgusting way to lie the audience and most importantly the loyal fans.

  • They should have just killed versus XIII but they chose to take a gamble by taking advatage of the hype of the original concept

  • Microsoft has a patent on personal in-game music
