So we’ll have to pay for each additional character unless getting the season pass which will allow the first 6 to be free?

I may wait for the Complete Edition then…

  • slicer141

I’m confused the season pass makes sense by 6 new characters then more content?? Season pass part confuses me

  • Faith

It’s only for NA, what about EU?????

  • Miqote

Can’t wait and want all 3 steelbook covers….

  • NoctLightCloud

Season Pass again? Noooo pls no!! >< just release the complete game, please D:

  • The lame season passes are here to stay, isn’t it? T___T

  • SquareElixir

It’s likely because the Arcade version is constantly getting updates, so the console version needs to keep up and this makes sense.

  • Yuntu

It´s pretty much standard in the industry now.

And well if you want the complete game (which would mean all characters in this case) they would´ve to wait probably like 2-3 more years at the rate they are going. Their goal is 50 characters after all.

  • One Eco

The season pass might be their way to keep adding the characters at the same time of the Arcade.
But the updates are free in the Arcade, if with the Season-pass they make you pay for skins and early access to the new warriors (like in the Arcade, if your faction wins “Battle of the Gods” you gain insta-access to the new character of that month before the rest of NeSica users and, of course, the non-NeSica users) it isn’t worthy UNLESS it’s really cheap.

By the way, that image of Warrior of Light’s Nameless Warrior is from the original Dissidias, so… they haven’t polished the actual skin in-game or something like that, I suppose.

  • One Eco

The complete game would mean that you’d have to wait 2, 3, or maybe 4 years. Because they’ll probably update the console version at the same rate as the Arcade version, so… yeah.

  • One Eco

Well, the mere existence of this season-pass is making me REALLY confused…

  • Krijn van Alten

It had to happen at some point, but personally I found this this most ugly CE they ever made. The art on the different steelbooks shows a complete lack op inspiration (why not a nice Amano art like he made for the original Dissidia?) and I can’t even recognize what is exactly on the Collector edition box, but It looks hideous. And then of course a seasonal pass, because that is what all the FF fans wants these days.

No, this one is definitely not for me.

  • Krijn van Alten

I am afraid so. I wouldn’t be surprised if they will use it again at the VIIR, since their announcement of the episodic nature of that game.

  • Krijn van Alten

I would not be surprised if this exact some CE will come to Europe as well, it’s just that this site has the tendency to forget that there are also FF fans in Europe who are following this site, so more then once they failed to mention FF EU related news.

  • Faith

I hope so, however for example the Lightning Returns CE didn’t get in EU too, I really hope they won’t do this mistake again ><

  • Krijn van Alten

Personally I would not even play LR even If they gave me money to do it. But I see what you mean, it’s the problem with more companies. Although I have to say that in recent years SE did a good job with that.

  • Marc Balgro

I’ll pass, prefer to start saving for either Dragon Quest XI or Kingdom Hearts III CEs.

  • Krijn van Alten

A wise idea if you ask me!

  • stevenm281

Yeah, I may wait a year or two to get the Complete Edition as I wouldn’t be surprised they’ll charge something like 5$ for each additional character after the initial release.

Their goal being having 50 characters, even if they give 6 for free with the season pass, there is still plenty to add and pay for.

However, I’l preorder DQ11 for sure.

  • Jesiah Grant

Of course there’s a fricking season pass -____-

“— Official soundtrack with 15 tracks selected from the DISSIDIA series and newly recorded music”

This is really frustrating. I really find that if they can’t at least put the OST in the box why make a whole new “music selection” thingy? Some people may think the 15 track disc is the OST. They need to word it better so people know they can buy the OST as a seperate product.

Also, does anyone know if the Arcade and console OST are the same? or will they be different?

  • stevenm281

but the Arcade version updates are free, why charge the console players?

  • Justice V

Updates are free at the arcade, but you probably gotta pay at least ¥100/game. If you only played 5 times a month for a year you paid the same as the cost of the console. Most people who are into the game likely play a lot more than that though, so while the update is free to the system you’re still paying in a sense.

  • Justice V

They’ve been around for almost a decade. Just SE has been slow to adopt them rather than dumping all dlc randomly.

  • Justice V

Saddest part about all of Dissidia arcade and NT is that it doesn’t seem like it will have the awesome story mode and exploration aspects Dissidia and Duodecim had. That’s really disappointing.

  • stevenm281

I feel ya, it seems this time its more of a fighting game, with some cutscenes here and there, than a full fighting-rpg, which is why I’m not in a hurry to get it.

  • Kyle

Another bust? Definitely not what I want. Cloud with his Buster Sword on a motorcycle? Now that sounds good. Will definitely get a steel book. I’m not a fan of 13 at all, so getting the one on the left wouldn’t be cool.

  • Miqote

I wouldn’t say the earlier games had much of a story………lol

  • One Eco

Same OST, you can buy the 2 CDs from the Arcade OST (40/50 tracks in total) at the online store from Square Enix Japan.

  • One Eco

    Yeah, that’s true.

  • One Eco

I’ve been thinking this all the afternoon and I think that the season-pass is meant to give the player insta-access to 6 character that AREN’T in the arcade yet.

  • Zero_mask

The boxart looks “FANART” you know like google image and simple photoshop layout. it lucks aesthetic and value tbh. It would be nice if it was the usual hand draw character by tetsuya nomura but in the new iteration. or yoshida or amano artwork for character something like that.

look at the box art of neir automata and DQXI see? it has charm and it looks expensive.

  • Krijn van Alten

    My point exactly.

  • Justice V

Story wasn’t amazing, especially in Dissidia 1, but the story and exploration were what excited me about 1 and 012 in the first place. Gameplay was coolish, but wasn’t what hooked or sold me on those games.

  • NoctLightCloud

But it’s still awful in which direction the whole game industry is developing. Giving us everything in pieces and charging 60$ for incomplete games. (Yes, if there is content available that is not on the disc, I call it incomplete.) And your 3 or 4 years are definitely too exaggerated. I mean, how hard can it be to program all characters at once? The studio is specialised in that.
Gamers should not to pay for additional characters in a fighting game T___T It’s still gonna be a ps4 game, why should it matter which marketing strategy they chose for their arcade machines? (They could release those characters earlier too.)

  • NoctLightCloud

The gamers should stop buying season passes and DLCs. This is becoming a huge pain imo.

  • NoctLightCloud

    What updates? You mean characters?

  • Yuntu

I disagree. Why? Back then if you finished a game you liked, that´s it. Unless there was a sequel that´s all you gonna get out of it.

Nowadays if you like a game chances are very high you will get more content for it without even worrying if it gets a sequel or not. I think it should stay that way. Obviously if someone is scamming with their DLC you shouldn´t support it, but there are enough positive examples out there as to why DLC should stay.

  • NewestType

    Same here!
Although Dissidia story wasnt deep I did enjoy the character interactions and anumated battle cutscenes.

    Also…
What happened to the EX Burst? I have not seen anything in the arcade build that looks as amazing as the Onion Knight’s Ex Burst in the PSP games. Have i just missed them?

  • NewestType

Marvel’s new fightning game’s story is also half baked but still fun. NTs story looks… vague/lifeless/ even emotionless compared to the new Marvel Infinite game.

  • NewestType

    SO true!

You cant use the excuses that dont apply to the equation.
Nobody use to upgrade cartridges. and the new content in games is something that has NEVER been offered in this way. I can still add on to games I bought months ago. Thats’s not like any games i played in the 90’s.

  • NewestType

Charas, Levels, Weapons, Summons, Outfits. I only say this because these features have been updated in the past.

  • NewestType

How are you planning on getting all 3? Im just curious in case i get the NT fever later.

  • Miqote

    I really don’t, just commenting.

  • alef321

this is worse than the last PSP entry, why would I buy it? less characters, less skins, less content and you’re asking me to buy a season pass for characters?

    oh square,what happened to ya…

  • Krijn van Alten

What is the story of NT exactly? Do we know that already?

  • One Eco

I understang your point of view, but after thinking about this yesterday I realized that this “season-pass” is actually an early access to those 6 characters + exclusive skins and weapons to those who buy it.

  • Shinobuden

As a European, I’d like to see some EU related news too. This is the site I frequent the most for Final Fantasy news, and Square Enix news in general, and it’s a great site. It’s just a shame that EU gets kinda left out.

  • NewestType

Technically, the game is taking place AFTER the other 2 games. The characters will retain there memory as well so they already know each other. The added bits may be… spoilers? So I will be extremely vague.

Cloud is A.C. era cloud, so those events MAY have happened. I imagine the games characters will follow that structure. But we haven’t seen most of this in the aecade.

  • Krijn van Alten

Americans are Americanocentric, and this site is a clear example of that.

  • stevenm281

yet, some people working for this website are Europeans so I don’t see your point.

  • Juston Saunders

i know i mean no tifa? no yuna? heck it’s missing a lot of the new characters from duodecim

  • Juston Saunders

    i enjoyed the duodecim story

  • One Eco

The EX Mode has been transformed into EX Skills.
And the EX Burst is not longer a feature.
However EX Skills are quite interesting, but you’ll have to play it first to understand it.

  • Dino Lulu

If you followed the game at all you would see that they’re constantly going to be releasing new characters over time. They intend to have all previous characters (sans Feral Chaos) and over 50 characters total.

  • Invictus

The only real deal happening for SE right now is KH3 which they “claim” is slated for release on 2018.

  • NewestType

I hope they do add the EX Burst to the game eventually. Seeing the enemies “Limit Break” was one of my favorite features…

  • One Eco

Let’s hope that it’s a feature in the 1vs.1 mode, because in the 3vs.3 modes EX Bursts would be the most useless additions ever…

  • NewestType

I hope so too. In 1vs 1 that would be cool.

  • Justice V

Think they were removed due to the fact it was a 6 player game at the arcades. EX Burst doesn’t fit in well when you have 4 other players that might be interacting with you as you go into a cutscene with just one other person. Which sucks because EX Bursts were pretty awesome all around.

  • Krijn van Alten

It’s in little details. Not bringing news on specific European covers, events, or when there is an event only mentioning one or two American time zones and never a European one.

Also, just that you are from Europe does not automatically mean that you will focus on that per se, so the fact that they have Europeans in their team isn’t proof for anything.
