Eos and Eorzea collide in Final Fantasy XV crossover event featuring Final Fantasy XIV on December 12 By Tony Garsow on November 8, 2018 at 12:15 AM

Announced during a special broadcast, Final Fantasy XV will be collaborating with Final Fantasy XIV this December 12th. The free update includes a quest where you’ll meet a Miqo’te named Y’jhimei who warns Noctis and company of an urgent primal threat: Garuda has appeared. She will appear as a special boss and your reward for clearing will be the starting outfits for the various races of Eorzea — Noctis (Miqo’te), Gladiolus (Roegadyn), Ignis (Elezen), and Prompto (Hyur).

Final Fantasy XIV director/producer Naoki Yoshida appeared on the stream to share his congratulations with the FFXV team and had this to say:

“Greetings to everyone watching the program Final Fantasy XIV Producer and Director, Naoki Yoshida here.

We just watched the Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy XIV collaboration video, but what did you think? The truth is, this project came about… two years ago. It was right about a few months before the master build for Final Fantasy XV was finalized when I spoke with Tabata-san, and we discussed “it would be nice to do something together,” since we were both working on Final Fantasy titles of the new generation. This goes without saying, but we mentioned we wanted to focus on mastering Final Fantasy XV first, but we agreed that we should build excitement for each other’s titles since we are all part of the same Final Fantasy franchise. It naturally took us a while, but we were able to release some much-awaited footage, to which I’m relieved.

What kind of adventures will our Y’jhimei have with Noctis and friends in [FF]XV’s realm? We would love for you to please look forward to it. We, the FFXIV development team are providing our full support from a lore perspective and the scenario and we have throughly reviewed and supervised the content so I hope everyone will enjoy this crossover.

Now, Final Fantasy XV will soon be celebrating two years since its initial release. I definitely want to congratulate them, but over these last two years, lots of fans would ask “when is XIV going to have a XV collabo?!” Well, we shall see… Here I am talking about all this, so people might be able to guess, but… I think I’ll leave it at that for today. I’ve been told by the promotional team not to say anything beyond that…

In any case, I just wanted to provide my greetings and salutations today. I hope you enjoy this crossover in XV.”

Awesome collab. All I really wanted in costume DLC was outfits from other ff titles as well as more unique looks I guess. But mostly just got different boring t shirts heh. This at least somewhat scratches that itch.

  • Ryuke

The best collab to come to XV to date. The outfits look awesome Now if XIV could get the XV crossover event they’ve been mentioning for a couple of years that would be great. I’m not sure what I want from it, but I want it.

  • Still no word on a FF7 crossover?

  • I’ve been in 3 FCs in 14, and only 1 person actually likes talking about the story.
All I ever hear about is arguing over what the best meta gear set up for each class.
I like the story of 14. It’s one of the few MMOs that I like beyond character creation.
But Story is always the focus with me. No crossovers, not meta set ups, and not killing time with long grinds.
