Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Ultimate Box graces Japan this December

At least one surprise came from today’s Final Fantasy 25th anniversary opening event.

Shinji Hashimoto took the stage near the end of the show to present a surprise. That surprise is the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Ultimate Box.

If you’ve ever wanted to own the entire mainline series in one set, now’s your chance. The compilation includes all 13 entries to the series comprising of PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3 releases.

Included within are:

Final Fantasy (PS1, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy II (PS1, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy III (PSP, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy IV (PS1, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy V (PS1, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy VI (PS1, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy VII International (PS1, 4 discs)
Final Fantasy VIII (PS1, 4 discs)
Final Fantasy IX (PS1, 4 discs)
Final Fantasy X (PS2, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy XI Vana’diel Collection 2 (PS2, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy XII (PS2, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, 1 disc)

The Ultimate Box will also include a special anniversary video disc, Crystal Art Works – an anniversary collection of visual art, a 2 disc music selection CD, Final Fantasy XIV Mogu Mogu Earring item code, and a mini replica of Amano’s 25th anniversary logo artwork with a stand.

All of this will set you back a hefty ¥35,000 and is available exclusively on the Square Enix eShop due for release on December 18th.

Other highlights from the ceremony include appearances by Sony Japan’s Kawano, who reminded us that with FFIII’s PSP release this month, every single Final Fantasy game will be then available on PlayStation.

Microsoft’s Takashi Sensui also stepped up to the stage and remarked about how FFXI came to their platform because Sensui asked why Wada wouldn’t put Final Fantasy on Xbox.

Nintendo’s Iwata was last but not least, delivering a video message in which he shared his thoughts on the series’ success.
