The second of today’s live streams just concluded, featuring a roundtable discussion between various creators on the future of the Final Fantasy series.
In attendance were –
Hajime Tabata (FF Type-0, Crisis Core, Before Crisis)
Yusuke Naora (FFVII, VIII, Type-0)
Yoshihisa Hashimoto (FFXIV, Agni’s Philosophy)
Mitsunori Takahash (Dissidia)
Motomu Toriyama (FFXIII, XIII-2)
Isamu Kamikokuryou (FFX, FFXII, FFXIII, XIII-2)
The panel consisted of various questions which were submitted by email, and hosted by Square Enix Channel Radio members.
+The first one asked about the possibility of a Final Fantasy Monsters style game – similar to Dragon Quest.
+Another fan asked if there was ever a chance of a more Japanese style FF, to which Tabata actually showed image boards of various artist concepts. These were not actually shown on the stream.
+Tabata said it would be nice to make a Japanese style Final Fantasy using the Luminous Engine.
+The next question was from a fan who had never played FF. They said they would play it if it were made into an otome game. Well…
Of course, it’s quite the elaborate fake.
+Next the staff were surveyed. They were asked what their favorite scene in Final Fantasy was, along with what the most attractive job class would be. Tabata said SOLDIER 1st Class, Toriyama an onion knight, Kamikokuryou a sky pirate and Hashimoto a black mage.
+The audience largely decided on Knight, with over 20% of the votes.
+The surveys were followed by Visual Works, including a marvelous video presentation of the history of the studio…
+Tabata closed off the event with some words. He talked about Final Fantasy Versus XIII’s development, then said “Tetsuya Nomura wanted to give the message that he’ll soon show the future of Final Fantasy.”
