Final Fantasy XV fifth week Japanese sales figures By Erren Van Duine on January 8, 2017 at 4:13 PM

Final Fantasy XV is making its way toward 900K physical units sold in Japan according to Media Create. In a new report provided by the sales tracking service, the game shifted a further 30,381 copies on PS4 from December 26 through January 1 – putting the cumulative total at 884,422.

On the opposite end, Famitsu’s report puts the game at 29,367 units for a total of 889,494 copies sold on PS4 since launch. Both sets of numbers indicate a strong hold for Final Fantasy XV during the end of the holiday season as it edges closer to its initial shipment of one million units in the region.

Note these numbers don’t include digital copies or the Xbox One version, which has fallen out of both lists after moving 3,791 copies its first week. We’ll likely hear more on that front soon though as full year sales charts start to roll in.

Final Fantasy XV is now available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Square Enix recently released a new update for the game, adding in features such as New Game+ and a Holiday DLC pack including a number of game-boosting items. The company plans on issuing further free updates to add in cutscenes and other content throughout the year.

Any FFXV news is good news atm.
I’ve watched a lot of glitch videos of people exploring
Out of Bounds: Shiva’s head, Niflheim, Tenebrae, Angelgard and outside Cartanica
And it’s getting me excited, hurry up Squeenix! Release the Carnival so we can see the rest of Eos!

  • •december

Fans of FFXV! I’ll start you off with this “Out of bounds glitch” or Eusciello

  • NoctLightCloud

900K for Japan only is very very impressive!

  • Randy Marsh

Get into the bomb shelter! The “FF is dead” posters are coming!

..But I’m glad its most likely reached 900k sales now. Bye!

  • Would you happen to have the links to the glitch exploring Tenebrae?

  • Randy Marsh
  • Jesus Christ

900K?! 900K for Japan is only very very depressive.

    FF is dead

There I said it for you Randy Marsh.

    LOL XD

  • I don’t care how much it sell. As long as they deliver epic thought-provoking story telling I’ll buy them. XV didn’t have a story I really liked but it did have a few solid characters I really respected. That’s enough for now. Time to move on.

If you really moved on, you wouldn’t be still commenting
on Final Fantasy XV articles. Are you waiting for Chocobo carnival
or any other future updates? I know I am (but i’m a fan of XV so)

  • Odin

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has secured its spot as the most awarded game in history with a total of 251 awards. This is a game you should spend your money on.

  • Thank you, much appreciated.

  • stevenm281

I’m excited for most updates, but not the Carnival, its like those special carnivals in MMOs, can’t stand them, they feel pointless and brings nothing to the narrative.

  • NoctisStrife87

Well, i wish xv had 200 people working on it all the development time, which never happened to not have story cuts. But, i hope the updates will fix some of it. TW3 also had a lot of updates to fix bugs and stuff were also added, but the story was amazing, there’s no way i could deny it.

  • Taylor Edwards

Because more people are giving out awards now then ever before. It’s not really much of an accomplishment when you factor that in.

  • EnclosureHD

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Final Fantasy XV

  • Invictus

True. Simply because TW3 was made with heart and passion. It wasn’t rushed. Each side quest have a story to tell. Some were even better than the main plot. I wish FF could live up to TW3’s standards but seeing as they are right now, it’s not going to happen anytime soon.

DLCs were free as well. Expansions are so huge it’s like 1 FFXV game per each expansion.

Best RPG game for me. EVER. Who’s excited for Cyberpunk 2077?

  • Shinobuden

Hmm. The way you say that it seems to me like you’re implying that XV wasn’t made with heart and passion, which is wrong. XV was definitely made with heart and passion too; they just didn’t have enough time to do everything they wanted to do with the game and the game was clearly supposed to have a lot more to it. Having a contract to release the game in 2016 didn’t help either. Nothing was rushed, they just didn’t have enough time. If I misinterpreted you then disregard what I just said.

I will agree that the sidequests in XV were sorely lacking and uninspired though.

  • Invictus

I loved FFXV. And still do. When corporate pressure kicks in, passion deviates into a requirement or a deadline. Which I complete understand that it’s hard. Unlike CD Projekt Red which has full creative control, they have the better shots. I might have worded it incorrectly, but I really wanted SE to get on CD Projekt Red’s level of creativity right now. They badly needed it.

  • Shinobuden

Ah. Then I misinterpreted you. My apologies.

I can agree with that. It’s truly a shame SE weren’t able to call all the shots themselves because I think we would’ve gotten a much more complete game if that had been the case.

Here’s to hoping they won’t have those kind of restrictions for XVI!

  • Invictus

I apologize too. I know a lot of us are on edge about FFXV coz we really believed in the game.. We invested so much heart and money on it that we defend it with all we got (criticize it with all we got too). I bought the season pass and will wait out the updates. lol

Here’s to the best FF7REMAKE ever!

  • Stonespear

    So little news… it hurts.

  • Stonespear

Far higher than I was expecting. It’s great news.

  • Shinobuden

Oh shoot. I had completely forgotten about that because there’s so little news of it.

    Indeed. Here’s to FF7R!

  • Invictus

Jan 31st might be a good date to drop hints at the remake. Or none at all. 🙁 Might be SE focusing on Dissidia and FFXV DLCs which are not bad at all

  • •december

    Lol triggered af comments,
    The trolls are getting intelligent.
I love Final Fantasy XV, just need more news… considering Season Pass Episode Gladiolus and Chocobo Moogle carnival are the next newest things for it, it sucks theres been no news on them!

  • Ulises

You again? why do you have to offend people for no reason? you know that’s called trolling, don’t you?

  • •december

Know your enemy, to outwit your enemy

  • NoctLightCloud

Especially if you consider the overall sales for ps4 consoles in Japan. With online sales, the xbox one + a possible pc port, this game will sure impress with its sale numbers.

  • Naw. I’m gonna play it maybe in the summer once it’s patched but right now all I want is Tales of Berseria, 2.8, ME Andromeda, Nier Auto, and Persona 5.

  • Ulises

That reminds me of Sun Tzu’s Art of War: “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
And let’s not forget that: “To know your Enemy, you must become your Enemy”.

  • stevenm281

the Carnival is a limited event only, it wont be up this summer.

  • If its mini games I’m good. I only care about epic story

  • Odin

My body and wallet is ready for Cyberpunk 2077. Did you play witcher 1 and 2?

  • Invictus

I really wanted to but my pc can’t handle witcher 2 right now. So I’m hoping these get released to ps4 soon which is unlikely though.
